We booked a two night stay. With wife on crutches after a serious heel bone break when booking I assumed that level access would be available to all room; I should have checked, but as a regular Accor hotel users I thought that my assumption was valid. We were booked into a first floor room and no ground floor rooms were available; very helpful reception staff member managed to relocate us to a small quite unpleasant room on the first floor in an annex area which did have access via a service platform style lift. We were very grateful nonetheless and next day we were transferred to a very nice room on the ground floor..

Me and my family arrived at the Mercure and John on reception was very efficient with our check-in gave us advice to download the Chester zoo app as it gives all the feeding times for the animals we were going the following day he also took us to our room. Ayo on the bar was also very welcoming and gave great service at the bar would highly recommend using this hotel if your going to the zoo with your family. We also enjoyed using the pool area.

Nice stay, accommodation was ok but in need of refreshing or updating. As one of the guests was disabled it was extremely difficult for us to get to and from the room, 262, which was upstairs and right at the back of the hotel.
