As a Grade II listed building, we are unfortunately unable to install air conditioning in certain areas of the hotel due to the restrictions in place to protect the building's historic character. While we understand this can be disappointing during periods of unusually warm weather. To help make our guests as comfortable as possible, we provide fans in our rooms and are always happy to assist with any additional requests where we can. My room was boiling hot, there was a fan but it did not help. The carpet was full of holes and the room was tired, many parts of the carpet were unclean. I would say the standard of cleanliness overall was very poor. I ordered room service as I felt very tired, an hour later I called to check on it and they said the order had only just. Ome through to the kitchen. Then I had a call from reception saying I had to go down to pay for the room service as the hadn't taken my card on check in. I said that was ridiculous and that I had to pay for the room on check so they should add it to the room. They did eventually call back and say I didn't need to come down but by then the damage was done. Worst hotel experience I've had.
