So disappointed- Families Stay Away

TripAdvisor rating 1.0/5

Siobhan W Families - TripAdvisor review

We’ve stayed here twice in the past and booked this weekend with the expectation the rooms would be run down etc and that was fine. All we really wanted was our kids to have a place to run around and see the Christmas tree and lights etc. Breakfast was horrendous, so much so we are choosing not to use our included option and eat out tomorrow. Such poor quality, again I never expect buffets to be 5* but honestly this was terrible. We had dinner the night before to which neither of my kids ate, myself included. We actually brought them to the games room downstairs after dinner for 45 mins and when we returned to go back to our rooms my husband and I both noticed and commented how our table still hadn’t been cleaned as our plates were still there. But lastly, I have never been so disappointed by a hotels service in my entire life. We returned tonight after a long and tough day as my two year old son had been taken to A&E for illness. I’m 30 weeks pregnant and after returning home at 11pm after a stressful and worrisome day all I wanted was a cup of English breakfast tea given I hadn’t eaten etc. My husband went to the bar at 11:15pm to be advised they were closed by a girl with glasses (also very rude) and abruptly refused. Firstly, I don’t know any hotel bar that closes that early but that aside given the circumstances I would have assumed the hotel would have actually made an effort to give us a cup of boiled water and a tea bag but clearly it was too much of an ask. Also before people ask why I dont use the kettle in the room, Ive previously worked in hotels for years and from being exposed to various hotel accomodation hygiene practices down the years I choose not to take my chances on using bedroom cups and kettles. I actually rang reception after my husband returned to submit a complaint, not that I’m sure anyone really cared but alas, hopefully it was submitted. For $1000 for a weekend, families all I can say it that you’re paying for an indoor softplay. Take my advice and book another hotel or nice air BnB because honestly I wish we never came here and we won’t be returning again.

Worst hotel ever

Rory not a nice manager. Him and his reception staff. They are incredible rude. Unsympathetic and nasty. I had 2 elderly people in their 70 and needed 30 mins extra time so they can get their stuff and leave They wouldn't accept I got upset when the reception staff told me that if I stay one minute extra they will charge me 100 dollars. Iam a platinum member of accor and I'll never stay here again nor will i ever recommend it to anyone I know.

Hi Mouhamadm2015, Thank you for taking the time to send through your feedback. I would like to add in the information that you have left out of your review as I do feel you are misrepresenting the resort and our staff. As was discussed with you, we had already given you an additional hour to check out, despite how busy we were over school holidays. As a Platinum member, you would know that late checkouts are subject to availability, but we always do our best for our loyalty members, and we were able to arrange this for you. Our EAM had to intervene with you after you had gotten agitated with our Reception team, and then the Front Office Manager when demanding additional time. As was discussed with you at the time, we had allowed an additional hour, and aggressive interactions with our team members is not tolerated, hence Rory coming to speak with you directly. We do agree that we are not the resort for you in the future, and thank you again for your feedback. Kind Regards, Charlie Young General Manager

Booked a 2 night weekend stay as a family of 4 in the school holidays. The highlights for the kids were: skating, pool/spa, the giant slide, incredible movie theatre, amazing Yulefest dinner w. Santa & elves experience & complimentary ducky toys (great touch). As adults, the shortfalls were 1) long check in 2) cafe in foyer a complete shambles & zero customer service (30min wait for coffee!) 3) tv in room didn’t work or have streaming (it’s 2024!) 4) staff were not eager to please, they all seemed pissed off even the concierge! 5) lots of activities broken / closed ie ponies 6) Embers was booked out weeks in advance (it should be emailed to guests that they book their dining at time of booking the room to avoid disappointment like what they do on cruises) . The entire hotel seemed a bit sad / dated, even the 3 fish in the pond looked glum, but we had a wonderful nights sleep in a quiet dark room. But I must say the Yulefest dinner absolutely smashed expectations! You should complement the staff & event team that put it together. It was a dream come true for our family. I don’t think we will stay there again, but we will be back for Embers & activities another time.

Dear Karina M., Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for taking the time to provide a detailed account of your experience. We are delighted to hear that the Yulefest dinner exceeded your expectations and that your family enjoyed the many activities available, including the skating, pool/spa, and the movie theatre. However, we are truly sorry to hear about the issues you encountered. We understand that long check-in times, service delays at the restaurants, and TV streaming problems can significantly impact your stay. Please be assured that we are taking your feedback seriously and are implementing measures to address these concerns. Regarding the Embers restaurant booking, we appreciate your suggestion and will consider implementing a pre-booking system for our guests to ensure a smoother dining experience. We are also in the process of reviewing our facilities and activities to ensure they are up to date and fully functional. Your comments have been shared with our management team and will be instrumental in our ongoing efforts to improve. While we understand you may have reservations about staying with us again, we hope you will consider giving us another opportunity to show you the high-quality experience we are known for. We look forward to welcoming you back for dining and activities in the future. Sincerely, Charlie Young, General manager

Please email me fr… I will send you photos. I was told I was upgraded from Courtyard Room to a Spare Room! It was old maybe last refurbed in the 80s! The TV was a OH&S risk; and it was like it was plonked on there as an after thought as you were a full capacity. I am Activation, Events and Marketing specialist with over 20-years experience in hotels with the projects I manager, the place needs a total refurb. The buffet was again massive OH&S risk with children running around restaurant and all over the buffet. Not to mention the pool area; was disgusting; I went to shower room and literally stood on towel as the place was filthy.
