Firstly the positives... very friendly staff and lovely grounds. We had a large room with a balcony. Next, not so positive. This was our first stay at the Fairmont and having read what it provided, it sounded fine. We booked for 4 nights. It is a very large hotel and therefore accommodates hundreds of people. The hotel had put on a range of school holiday activities for the whole of January, which obviously attracted hundreds of families with small or school aged children. Breakfast was included in our room cost. The food was OK but having to queue at 3 different points for hot food, coffee, and then at the toasters, meant something had to go cold. Due to the number of families eating breakfst at the same time, the room was incredibly noisy, so not a relaxing experience. We could only reserve a table at one of the hotel restaurants if we scanned a QR code and down loaded their App. This didn't work for us and I went in person to the Fairmont Golf Club, only to be told I couldn't book in person, but had to use the App. Needless to say we just went elsewhere and ate out in Leura for the rest of our stay. Finding a parking space was also a bit of pain as we often had to drive around to find one. It was a pity that the hotel did not live up to our expectations and we will not be staying there again.

Disappointing. Decided to leave 3 days early. General standard of hotel, accommodation, facilities and cleanliness is poor.

Disappointing

This was our third trip to the fairmont, the previous 2 being 10 years earlier. Standards have well and truly declined in that time. When we walked into our room, the wheel from the bed was in the middle of the floor, the maid must have vacuumed around it. We found a dirty sock behind the curtain and cereal in the couch cushions. No rollaway bed as requested at booking (and paid for). After 5 requests, one was eventually brought 4 hours later. Advertised rides were mostly not operating and the ones that were were extremely expensive per turn. Stacks of arcade games, all costing money. The pool was freezing cold and had broken/missing tiles everywhere. Food and drinks were extremely overpriced, and on the last night we found a large live insect in our sons salad. Waitstaff were apologetic and offered to refund our meal (still waiting for this to happen) The staff were friendly and as helpful as they could be and seemed used to apologising profusely. This is definitely not a resort. There were small children everywhere, not the place for a relaxing family trip with older children. Breakfast buffet was packed and we were told on arrival we only had 45 min Max as they were busy. If we didnt have an even scheduled to attend, we would have left. Will not be returning, that's for sure.

First experience going to the toilet and there being blood on the seat And dirty tissues on the bench No phone working in either room We were grateful that when we ordered room service that they come and told us as they were not able to get through on the phone that they cooked in peanut oil - which then limited our menus to only eating out at the sublime restraint- I think that’s what it was called - no bookings required We were then told on day 5 that - the information we were given was incorrect and they don’t cook in peanut oil - out 15 year old was refusing to eat as she was concerned with information we were being given - considering how bad anaphylactic she was - Staff were lovely though Atmosphere was good Kids were Disappointed that the climbing was unavailable Considering we traveled 11 hours to stay at the resort I would give it a 4/10 Breakfast was good
