Mercure Cairns 4,5 estrelas

Firstly, the staff was outstanding. Helpful and "Australian" friendly, gracious, and kind. The only problem was connecting to the hotel through Booking.com. Our flight was delayed, and we did not get to hotel until after 1am. We tried unsuccessfully to contact hotel and get response to let us know we cold "late night access". Texts and emails to get to us in a timely manner, therefore, we had problem communicating. We took taxi to hotel, and fortunately, the manager was in the office and let us in. Long story short, she helped us rebook our hotel room and gave us access to our room. We were exhausted from traveling from SFO to Sydney to Cairns. The next morning, Rebecca at the front desk provided excellent service, getting us coffee, providing info and booking our boat trip, glass bottom boat info etc. We left our luggage and explored the reef, at dream come true. Upon returning to hotel to check out, change etc, we left for airport to return back to USA. The room was clean and the service was outstanding. Great location and walkable to everything near the Marina and we even had the opportunity to go to the night market which, again, was walkable. 20 min ride from airport

There is very limited Street only parking. You have to go find a parking spot elsewhere away from the hotel. Unless you’re lucky enough to grab one out front. There was an error in our breakfast purchase. We purchased on line but it never went through. Instead of offering to fix it when the error was discovered. We were happy to pay. The receptionist rolled her eyes and was more interested in telling me we wouldn’t get breakfast for the room price. She assumed I was after a free breakfast. All I wanted was to ensure it wasn’t charged and missed so I could buy breakfast now and fix it up. I realise they must get some bad customers but not all are and if you’re so burnt with your job. Take a holiday and reset and relearn customer care and forget customer assumption. FYI. The breakfast was very ordinary looking. Over cooked eggs and dry looking scrambled eggs. There was about six people in the restaurant and none looked happy. Zero atmosphere for a holiday place. Such a shame as the rooms are ok and mostly clean. We won’t be going back there again. The parking was a huge issue and the attitude of some staff was extremely disappointing. When you go away you should be able to relax even if there is an issue.

Nice furnishings but disappointing overall. Accor Plus Diamond member. No recognition of status. No welcome amenity, had to ask for welcome drink. Ants all over room. Went and told reception and was handed a can of fly spray. Kind of sums up the whole stay. Food at breakfast was very limited and tasted reheated. Bed comfortable enough but woken in the night by street noise. Parking is also an issue. No real sense of hospitality at any point during stay. Cannot recommend unfortunately.

The rooms are clean and have all the facilities. The reception staff is very helpful, rooms are serviced everyday. The restaurant is operating and room service is offered. Esplanade is about 800 meters away and the Night Market is only 500 meters. Aquarium is even closer, same the Cairns Centre for performing arts. Overall good place to stay. Highly recommended.

A ten minute walk from The Esplanade, this is a very nice place to stay in Cairns. The rooms are spacious and have a TV, tea/coffee and toilettries replenished daily. The reception staff are super helpful and act promptly on customer feedback. Housekeeping is done daily. There is a restaurant for grabbing meals. Highly recommended for those wanting quiet surroundings, yet close to all the activities.
