Ibis veteran suggests you give this hotel a miss

What a disappointment! I have stayed in a variety of Ibis hotels ("regular" Ibis, Ibis Styles, and Ibis Budget) around Europe and in South America. This particular hotel WAS reasonably priced at a time (Dec. 30 and 31) when Vienna was very expensive, and the location, among office buildings near the Prater amusement park, was fine. But the rooms, common areas, and some of the staff left much to be desired. First, you should know if you are traveling with a casual friend, that the room setup -- at least of the twin-bedded rooms on the fourth floor that I saw -- is oddly intimate. The shower is not enclosed in a bathroom; it's a glass or Plexiglass box in the room. There IS frosting on the shower walls from the typical-height person's knees to shoulders, but it was still odd to be sitting on the bed watching the head and arms of someone showering a few feet away! Worse, perhaps, the toilet, which was in a separate room, had a door that stopped about 3 inches from the floor. So all noises (and smells) could drift right over to the bed area of the room. In addition, in our room, the light in the toilet went off anytime the user was still for more than a few seconds. Result: We had to wave our hands to keep from being stuck in the dark. The first room we were given at the hotel had an odd smell that I couldn't quite pin down. To his credit, the male front-desk person on duty on Dec. 30 cheerfully gave us another room and was on the floor investigating the first room by the time we made it back upstairs. The next night, however, a different male employee didn't know what I was talking about when I asked about purchasing the wide range of drinks and snacks advertised on a sign by the hotel's elevators as being available 24/7. He directed me to a vending machine with limited choices. Finally, the only garbage can I saw available in the evening on the same floor as the breakfast room was a tiny vessel like you might have in a home bathroom. It was full and had garbage stitting around it every time we walked by.

It was an amazing stay from check in till check out, everyone was so nice and have a great attitude, I would like to thank Nadin, Mercedes, Ahmad and Joseph for making my stay really comfortable, also want to thank the lady who checked me in, when I arrived she was so smiley and I love that ❤️❤️ thank you all and I will come back for sure ❤️

Good for small budgets

Small but has everything you need. Very close to public transport and across the street from the amazing Prater park. It says that if you let the reception know to skip a cleaning to help the environment, you will get a surprise at check out. We didn't receive anything. Otherwise, hotel is clean, service is good. We asked for extra pillows (only comes with 2 total) and we got them right away. Would recommend, affordable and close to all public transport.

No basic needs included in the room

We came to Wien as unplanned so we chose the hotel at very last minute. Location and budget was our priority so we chose here. We booked a family room. We weren't expecting much. I can say that cleaning may be enough but there are so many needs that are a 'must' in every basic hotel room. For example hand towel, hair towel, towel flippers, hair dryer. There is only a bed in the room, no wardrobe, just hangers around. The worst was the shower, you should check it out from the pictures. It is in the room and it has a blurred glass. You don't have any privacy in the room. Toilet door cant be closed. Beds and pillows arent comfy, either. No glass in the room, no water bottle. Any of the basic needs arent supplied so this was too much. Be aware of this. Air conditioner was enough. The most beautiful thing about the hotel is it is so close to Prater and U1 Bahn. We went to the city center very easily.

Good and affordable budget hotel

Clean and modern hotel. They offer a breakfast buffet. Rooms are clean and large enough, containing the wonderful ibis bed, a small desk, two stools and a bin, sink, separate toilet and a separate shower. Only a 10 minutes walk from the Praterstern travel hub, where you can take the U1 to Vienna's historic centre. Staff is friendly and helpful. I had a pleasant stay.
