We chose SO/ Vienna over Andaz specifically for the location, and it was the right call. Praterstrasse puts you perfectly in Leopoldstadt — central, vibrant, and with great neighbourhood energy without the tourist chaos of the inner city. The room was a genuine highlight. Spacious, cleverly designed with mirrors that make the space feel even larger, excellent storage, and a bathtub big enough for two that we genuinely loved coming back to. The bedding was so comfortable we struggled to wake up every morning — always a good sign. Small touches like the chips in the minibar and the plush bathrobes added real warmth to the experience. Das LOFT bar on the 18th floor is simply spectacular — panoramic views over Vienna that stopped us in our tracks. We genuinely regret not going earlier in the stay and made sure to go back before checkout. A few areas held the experience back from being perfect. Check-in lacked basic communication throughout — no hotel orientation, a €500 deposit charged without any prior mention of the amount, and a promised call when our room was ready that never came. We followed up ourselves at 3PM. Three separate communication gaps in one interaction is a pattern worth addressing. The lobby occasionally looked a little tired and messy for a design hotel. The spa, while a lovely space, needed more communication around its facilities. The sauna was never operational during our entire 5-day stay with no signage or explanation anywhere. The steam rooms — split across two sides — were equally inconsistent: one side had an out-of-service sign, the other would be on one day and off the next with no pattern or notice. For guests planning their morning around the spa, this is a simple fix: a small sign or a note on the in-room TV with current facility status would go a long way. The space has real potential — it just needs better communication to match it. Overall a genuinely enjoyable stay that we’d recommend — with a little more operational polish this would easily be a 10.

Property quality and location were the original reasons for booking. However, the fantastic service from the staff will bring me back in the future. Nico and Tianhao stood out especially.

Stayed in room 916 on 4/23-24. Shower lightbulb was out, I called 2 times and nobody came to replace it. The mattress has brown stain on it. Luckily we only had to be there for 1 night. The apple screen share doesn’t work on the TV. Also someone shared their video onto our tv and started playing at 2am in the middle of our sleep.

One of the highlights of this hotel is Das Loft on the 18th floor, where you can take in breathtaking panoramic views of Vienna’s city center. Whether you visit during the day or in the evening, the scenery is absolutely stunning. The service throughout the hotel is outstanding and truly reflects its five-star rating. The staff are professional, attentive, and always ready to assist, making the overall stay feel both comfortable and luxurious. In terms of location, the hotel is very convenient. It is just one metro stop away from St. Stephen’s Cathedral, one of Vienna’s most iconic landmarks. Alternatively, it’s about a 15-minute walk, which allows you to enjoy the charming streets of the city along the way.
