On arrival i was told that my stay was not registered. The previous nights booking was showing as a no show even though I had proof on a call 2 wkes prior to change the date due to Ferry changes. The only saving grace was Tina.... she was calm and kind and got me sorted, even giving me a room that would allow my moterbike to be outside my window for added security. I had just stayed the previous night in an Ibis in France and all I can say is UK Ibis is more like a basic hostal with clearly a homeless shelter aswell.

I didn't realise you didn't get a kettle, but I guess that's how you keep prices low. The shower was clean, but smelt of chemicals. Maybe the plastic it was made from?

Having never stayed in an ibis budget I’d imagined it to be similar to other popular budget hotel chains. The cost was certainly not dissimilar. Upon arrival the staff were polite and friendly enough. The lobby felt a bit like a staff room, people microwaving their food and sitting around on plastic chairs. Once in the room I was quite shocked, it felt more like a prison cell than a hotel room, very small, shower cubicle and sink just in the room and a tiny toilet cubicle. Nothing more than 2 paper cups on the desk. Other members of our party had an accessible room which was a twin with 2 tiny beds and a wet room. Unfortunately their toilet didn’t flush and the wet room was not sloped so once the shower had been used it was soaking and slippery. Thankfully we only used the room to shower and sleep before heading off in the morning. I will definitely stick to the more popular budget hotels in future.
