The hotel was lovely, staff very helpful and friendly, beautiful room that was spotlessly clean and great breakfast. Also good that there is a car park. Only reason we haven’t given a 10 is because we were really disappointed with Perigueux. We didn’t like the city at all. If we could pick up the hotel Mercure and put it in another town we would definitely be back. It’s a shame there isn’t a Mercure in Sarlat le Caneda

We needed a short (1 night) stay when traveling from Lyon to Bordeaux. We wanted to be close to the city center so we could walk to restaurants/sites and easily get to the train station in Périgueux. We saw some mixed reviews but decided to chance it and are so glad we did! Our room was impeccably clean, updated/modern finishes & bathrooms, crisp/high quality bedding. Staff was very helpful in recommending a nice restaurant we could walk to and a nearby laundromat as well (since we were traveling over 2 weeks and prefer to find a place to do laundry rather than overpacking!) We went to the cathedral, the market and did a bit of walking touring. We liked the idea of a bar on the premises for a late night drink to chat with other guests & maybe locals without needing to leave the property, though we didn’t actually do that! Time is always so short when on holiday! There is a small amount of parking available in the back which we were able to use, but if it’s full there is inexpensive parking available nearby. Overall…great stay; happy to recommend!
