Good location, room was great. Staff were friendly. No issues with accommodation provided as it was as described online and was great for a budget ibis. I just found it concerning when I arrived I found out the hotel was being used to house local homeless people. I paid £81 for a room last minute as I needed somewhere close to the railway station as I had to catch an early train. I was happy to pay a premium rate for a last minute booking for a Friday night especially so close to the station. However, I have paid less (£60 - £70) for normal ibis in London and ibis styles in Glasgow and didn't experience the smell of drugs in corridors or people trying to access my room like I did in Southampton. I booked ibis based on past excellent experiences. If security improves at this hotel I would book again as staff and facilities were excellent and in line with what was advertised and the location was excellent. However I wasn't happy paying more for a ibis budget hotel than what I have paid for standard ibis to feel unsafe by other guests smoking drugs and trying to access my room after I find out they are there are homeless people being housed there.
