While we enjoyed a pleasant enough stay, it was a little disheartening to have very limited privacy due to our rooms placement directly alongside a very busy road and footpath. We were actually on the 4th floor, however that’s the Queenstown landscape for you. Thankfully the drapes were of excellent quality. The hotel has lovely helpful staff, is very clean and tidy however is certainly looking quite tired and dated. The concierge and valet service was exemplary Thank you.

The Mattresses were appalling. They had lumpy mattress toppers on them that were stained and uneven. When I removed the mattress protector a previous guest had put 2 towels under the mattress protector to try and prop up the mattress topper even more. Totally unhygienic and completely unacceptable for any category of hotel. I communicated with a cleaning supervisor after the first morning who was exceptionally polite and considerate and I asked her to remove the mattress toppers from the room that we had taken off the single beds and she ensured this happened. Sleeping on the mattresses minus the mattress toppers the second night was almost as bad as the first with zero support. The following morning I communicated at reception exceptionally quietly to a lovely Reception staff member and expressed what had taken place and she asked would we like a board placed on the bed. I informed her that if a board is required to support a mattress then that mattress has clearly passed its used by date. She advised me she would over see this and ensure that the problem is resolved. I told her I do not believe in public forums to denigrate hotels and I just wanted the problem fixed as my mother and I were now in pain from sleeping on those unfit for use mattresses for 2 nights. I am unaware if a board was added or not ? but the third night was no different and another terribly painful night ensued. The Receptionist had informed me that there was refurbishment was taking place and I asked her could we please have new mattresses but clearly this did not take place. We were exhausted and in pain from the Sofitel Queenstown Mattresses. I gave up by the 4th night.

There's no place for poor bedding in our business, and I regret that we were unable to remedy things for you whilst you were in house. I'm pleased to reassure you that we have commenced a full bed replacement programme in the hotel, and as I am new to leadership here I have this is a priority. The reception staff were helpful and friendly. Room had no face cloths and only one robe instead of two. Was a cockroach in bathroom. The fridge was noisy and when we tried to turn air-conditioning up because room was cold this was also very noisy

Room was pretty tired with fittings cracked and chipped. A/C struggled to heat the room. Apart from the temperature the room was comfortable and quiet.
