FOS and concierge were extremely friendly and helpful. The bar staff were exceptional. However, the daily cleaning service was very hit or miss. This was our second time staying here -. we particularly love it for its close proximity to everything and the beautiful view from the courtyard.

I got a $75 parking ticket because of not being noticed after the parking time out of the hotel, I am very upset with it. I think it’s not my reason because why do the check-in I asked the service lady of the hotel. Where can I park and is it overnight parking free she said it’s free parking overnight but she didn’t said when I can park so the second day, I got a ticket. I went to the hotel manager. He said it’s my fault because I do had my own responsibility of my parking but what I mean is if I didn’t ask the hotel of course it’s my own responsibility but why do the check-in I asked where I park and when I followed what she said and I got a ticket. I’m so disappointed at this hotel fuck it’s a piece of shit.

location, staff, and breakfast all great. biggest issue is we paid for lakefront and were on the ground floor, which felt like a fishbowl/ lacked privacy so we kept curtains closed all the time - these rooms shold not cost extra. room also needs reno, the bathroom in particular is super daggy and could not find a fan

We didn’t hire a car as this location was within walking distance to all the main city highlights. However if you are planning on Skiing then that’s a bit of a distance hence vehicle needed

The hotel is spacious and nice. My bed was comfortable. Staff were pleasant. Layout of hotel a little confusing as we went wrong way and had to backtrack tonfind our room. Room was on smaller side though it had nice chair, table area, fridge and amenities for hotdrinks. Closet accommodated our coats and clothes needing to hang. I thought tub in the bathroom was a deathtrap. Parking was nonexistent.

I was very disappointed with our experience at check-in and with how the situation was handled overall. We experienced significant travel disruption after our aircraft was unable to land in Queenstown on our scheduled arrival date. I contacted the hotel several times throughout the disruption to keep the team informed, including once it became clear that we would not be able to reach Queenstown that day. During my first call, the staff member I spoke with was understanding, advised that notes would be added to our reservation, and indicated that there may be an opportunity to waive the first night’s charge given the circumstances and the communication we had maintained with the hotel. While I understood this was not guaranteed, this gave me some confidence that our circumstances would at least be considered when we arrived. Instead, when we arrived at approximately 11:30am the following day, we were simply advised that we had been recorded as “no shows” and charged the full rate. I accept that the hotel may have been contractually entitled to do this. However, the way this was communicated was abrupt and, in my view, lacked the level of courtesy and understanding I would expect from a hotel of Novotel’s standing. More concerning was that, despite having charged us for the previous night, we were then told that our room was not ready and that we would need to wait until the normal 2pm check-in time. I found this particularly unreasonable. If the hotel was treating the booking as continuing and charging us for the room from the prior night, it is difficult to understand why we were not able to access a room on arrival the following morning. It was only after my wife challenged this that a room was made available. After spending the better part of a day and a half travelling from Hamilton due to disruption entirely outside our control, the response from the hotel felt inflexible and unsympathetic. The issue was not simply the application of the no-show charge, but the overall handling of the situation and the apparent disconnect between charging us for the room and then initially refusing access to one. Overall, the experience fell well below the standard I would expect from a hotel with Novotel’s reputation, pricing and service expectations. Based on this experience, I would not choose to stay at this hotel again.

I would say it’s the best choice for a Queenstown trip. It’s very convenient for the location. And the most surprising was the cherry blossoms in front of the hotel, which were absolutely stunning.

Only had 1 night here but what a beautiful hotel ,,The reception staff are the best ,so friendly nothing is a problem.. and all of the other staff are so polite and happy to chat.. My room was just so comfy and very little outside noise which is great for such a busy town...i will stay again for sure , Great stuff Novotel lakeside...
