Lake view hotel with a view of the carpark. Not impressed. No sockets beside bed to charge phones. Driving around town for half hour to find parking. No saunas or similar.Have stayed in 3☆ hotels in NZ with better facilities. Was going on daytrip early and couldn't order breakfast takeaway unless I paid more.

We understand how disappointing it must have felt to book a lake view room and find the outlook not quite what you had anticipated. Your comments regarding the bedside power sockets and the inconvenience of finding parking in town are also appreciated, as feedback like this helps us identify areas where we can improve. Regarding parking, Queenstown can be particularly busy, and we regret that securing a space took longer than expected. We do offer limited on-site parking, subject to availability, and our team is always happy to assist with alternatives whenever possible. While we do not have sauna facilities, we would like to highlight that we offer a private hot pool exclusively for in-house guests, which many guests find a wonderful way to relax after a day exploring. We also have a fitness centre available for guest use. We are sorry if these facilities were not clearly communicated during your stay. In relation to breakfast, we understand early departures can make dining arrangements challenging. we would like to clarify that takeaway breakfast boxes are available to collect prior to 6:00am. These do need to be pre-ordered with our team the evening before, and guests can then conveniently pick them up from reception before heading out for the day. We apologise if this option was not clearly communicated during your stay. We truly value your feedback and regret that we did not provide the level of experience you were hoping for. It is a good location however don’t be taken in by offers to upgrade which we were. It is Lakeside not Lakeview. There is no view! I did request the upgrade when it was offered a couple of days before our arrival, anticipating a Lakeview. When I questioned it and stated we did not get a Lakeview and respectfully asked not to be charged for the upgrade as there was no view I was declined and they took it from my credit that they had on file. I was given the huge description it is Lakeside not Lakeview. It’s a basic hotel. Be aware, only book a standard room as that is all it is. Absolutely false misrepresentation.

To clarify, our “Lakeside” room category refers to the hotel’s prime lakeside location and positioning within the property, rather than guaranteeing a direct or uninterrupted lake view. Our “Lake View” room category is specifically designated for rooms that offer direct views of Lake Wakatipu. We sincerely apologise if this distinction was not clearly explained at the time the upgrade was offered, as we never wish for our guests to feel misled in any way. Regarding the upgrade charge, upgrades confirmed prior to arrival are processed as agreed at the time of acceptance. However, we are sorry that the explanation provided during your stay did not leave you feeling heard or satisfied. It's a busy hotel but we were still well looked after. Our room was spacious, clean, well appointed and nice and quiet.

When we checked-in after 2pm, the room was not ready. When we enquired about parking, we were told it was full; but the concierge gave us very helpful advice to find street parking. The key cards to our room did not work; the concierge reprogrammed the cards and sent me back up to my room; they still did not work, so she reprogrammed the cards again and accompanied us back to our room. When she realized the situation, she called for assistance to have our room door reprogrammed. We were offered a welcome drink; the pineapple juice I was offered tasted stale. The bathroom was so small there was no room to hang used towels. For a hotel of this standing, I expected better.

Regarding parking, as we are located in the heart of Queenstown, onsite parking is limited and subject to availability. sadly bad weather in Wellington delayed our trip (air New Zealand canneled flight) but we were charged for those days not present. That took the shine off the holiday. It serves as a warning to all we tell about our first time in Queenstown.
