Very comfy but bed! Cleaning is f room happened very late in the day and not consistent with towels teplaced, dirty glass removed. Cleaners bottle of water left. Vacuuming did not happen at all.

We have stayed at the Novotel Lakeside on numerous occasions over the last 10 years and I felt this visit was not up to the standard we have become used to and it was the reason we have continued to return to the Novotel Lakeside. Even as a Gold Accor member the staff seemed disinterested in serving us. On the second morning we chose to have breakfast at the hotel but because we chose not do have breakfast including in our tariff and because our name was not on the list the staff member did not want to allow us to eat there. We explained clearly we knew we would be paying for the meal but she could not seem to understand that. After many minutes of going over the same thing I just asked her to get a superior so I could explain the situation to her. She finally understood the situation and we were admitted. We chose not to eat there again as it was just very embarrassing. We were not offered an upgrade of any nature and I understand it is not always available and even asking for a 1 hour later checkout was denied on the first request. A second request on the next day was successful and we were granted an extra hour. Overall we were disappointed as at no time were we recognised as a Gold Accor member which even Japan and Singapore went out of their way to please us as Gold members. We told one of our friends who was in NZ a week before us to stay at the Novotel Lakeside ( non Accor member) and she too was disappointed.

Great location within short flat walking distance to waterfront, restaurants and shops. The reception and restaurant staff provided excellent friendly service. Bed was comfortable and the room could do with updating. Small bathroom. Housekeeping trolleys and used linen left in passageways nearly all day. Queenstown room rates are expensive and Novotel parking is costly at NZ$50 per night. Note: After checking in we needed to change our allocated room which had shower over bath and reception were able to change us to one of the few rooms that have a walk in shower.
