I stayed at two different rooms during my stay. The first one, on the sixth floor, had old, but funcional furniture. The air conditioning definitely lacked maintenance and the carpet on the floor was really a downer. The second room was refurbished and apparently more spacious. The air conditioning was new, but noisy, probably due to the fact that the condenser is placed in a built-in closet inside the room. The shower handle was loose, and so was the sink faucet. I ordered room service twice and the food was below average, despite the reasonable prices. The fries were cold and not crispy at all. The tray was removed from the aisle nearly twelve hours after my order. The amenities from the second room were more refined and significantly better. Staff was kind and helpful.

- Room had a strong air smell of smoke (cigarette) - Pillow and sheets too - Room (809) had several sudden very loud noises coming from the bathroom (maybe a neighboring room turned on the bath shower tap, but the pipes were screaming... it scared me at 2:00 AM (i literally woke up because of the noise, and it came again around 7:00 AM) - There were no free water bottles in the room, no complimentary tea available, and the water bottle that was available for sale had a PH of ~4,5 (acid water) and the bottle was really small (330ml) at a unreasonable cost (R$6,00 per bottle - approximately US$1,50 per cup of a very bad water). - Check in took over 15 minutes, because i had just bought the tickets through an agency - My omelet took 30 minutes to be prepared... vs. ~10 minutes in other nearby hotels (B hotel, Melia, etc.).

No water in the shower or tap in the morning, I used the sauna's shower instead. I know it was busy with Russian and Chinese groups but it was annoying as I was in a rush for meeting and could not change rooms at that time.

Reception was fast both entering and leaving. Very professional but did not make any question about my stay. Couldn’t care less. Gym was terrible. No aircon, very hot, only two treadmills working. Went there 3x, could use only once, always busy. Went 7pm and 6am, busy. Maintenance forgot a bag with tools inside the room and left the room dirty. I was in the bathroom, but kept insisting to enter the room. Later I mentioned to front desk the episode they did worse and did not leave me sleep.

i enjoyed my first stay here because the room is quite big and nice, great bed. My experience wasn´t really good because of room service. I checked in at 11pm, ordered a soup and was told it would take 20 to 30 minutes for it to be delivered. 30 minutes later the restaurant called to say my sop wasn´t available, if I would like to order something different. I did, At midnight I called to cancel, as I needed to sleep. The person said ok. Five minutes later, the person called my room to say the food was on its way, which really upset me as I had to state yet again that I WANTED TO SLEEP!

The room is well designed. Appreciate the balcony. The AC split unit was dripping water from condensation at a certain point forming a pound on the floor. It quickly dried out though. I would suggest the maintenance to have a look at it.

I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to get early check-in after landing at 9:00am. The reception staff was courteous and very helpful. I don’t speak Portuguese and their English was limited, but we were able to get by. This holds true for the staff of the BAR CAPIM DOURADO. The bar itself is really a restaurant with a limited and uninviting "bar" area, not what would be considered a typical hotel bar. The food was very good, especially the filet mignon and the burgers. Use the tables instead of taking a bar stool for a drink. The room was much different. I was assigned a standard two single bed room. There was no coffee or tea, and nothing to boil water in if I brought my own. There was also no iron or ironing board. I traveled on business and would have appreciated the ability to get wrinkle free (while having a nice cup of tea). The single bed was also a bit narrow, had limited nightstand space, and the power outlets are nowhere near the table. No USB ports in the room to charge devices. There was no hotel directory to inform me about breakfast times, what to do locally, or how (or if) laundry was collected. The local area is in a Hotel District. Most of the buildings around the Grand Mercure are also hotels, some are empty shells of hotels no longer in business. There are a couple malls across the street from the hotel with food courts and bigger restaurants. The restaurants were always crowded with long wait lines, but I hear the food is excellent (Paris 6, Madero, and Coco Bambu). I opted to eat at the hotel, which was not a bad choice. I doubt I would stay in this hotel again if I were to revisit Brasilia, but I think this is very typical of Brazilian hotels to have limited amenities for guests. I have been to Brazil several times and have yet to use a hotel that meets international standards. I’m surprised that the Grand Mercure didn’t; Accor hotels are usually top notch. I was there for nine nights in October 2019.

IBM recommended this hotel. But the price of coffe is more than what IBM indicated. Time ago the coffe break was included in the room price. Now it isn't and is more expensive

John, the manager was very interested in attending the guests and could solve the problems I faced in the fist day. Room and WC were not appropriated clean. Room cleaning service was not so good (late cleaning in the first day and very bad cleaning). After talking to John this service got better but still not perfect. Most of employees at front desk were prepared to help the guests but one of the guys was not well prepared to help and provide appropriated information. i don't remember his name but it was with "W". Also the girl at the breakfast reception was not prepared to deal with the guests. Besides that, the stay in general was good; the rooms are quiet and the hotel is well located. Breakfast is also very good.

Some observations: - Basic channels in TV require subscription. - Most of times, after room cleaning, either laundry bag or laundry form (or both) were not put in the room. - Sometimes, AC was temporarily unable to start. - Big desk chair had barely enough space to be moved. Smaller, more mobile chair would be better.
