I booked this place because it was on my route and I needed a quiet rest stop for two days. If I had known what I was up against, I would have chosen otherwise. I booked, and only afterward did they send an email informing me of the noise disturbance I would experience during my stay, as they are remodeling half of the hotel. There is simply no quiet or restful area available. I am also traveling with my mother, who has Alzheimer’s, and her small emotional-support chihuahua. I provided the required proof, yet they insisted on a document that only a Mexican federal bureau can issue. I find this very strange for a French hotel brand in which all animals are allowed at no extra cost—at least in France… There was also a so-called breakfast promotion that turned out to be another catch: it advertised “2x1,” but only if you repost something on Instagram. What are we—teenagers? Overall, not very friendly, and certainly not pet-friendly. There are plenty of better hotels in this city, so I strongly recommend avoiding this one.

It took us 20 minutes in line to check in. The WC was leaking water, and the room looked like a 90s hotel room. It definitely needs more attention to maintenance. The iron was dirty and stained our clothes.

Our stay at the Novotel was, unfortunately, a deeply disappointing experience. We encountered multiple issues, beginning with problems related to certain promotions, such as the 2x1 breakfast deal, which were not honored correctly. Additionally, our bed sheets were stained with dried blood, the closet doors repeatedly fell off, and the shower sink became clogged during our stay. However, the most troubling aspect was the situation regarding the room upgrade. We were explicitly told that, by hosting our wedding event at the hotel, we would receive a larger room as guests of honor. Instead, when we requested the upgrade, we were informed that they “could not spare a bigger room for free at the moment” and were asked to pay an additional 2,000 pesos. This was completely contrary to what had been promised. Overall, it was a horrible stay, and the inconsistency between what was offered and what was delivered was unacceptable.

Had stayed here before and it was fine, but this latest visit was genuinely awful. The bathroom had so many issues I actually considered leaving, but it was too late at night. The toilet bowl was dirty — including a dry brown stain on the outside. The sink had large, visible chunks of food on the drain. The bathtub drain was clogged, so showers had to be quick or my feet would be submerged in dirty water. And the shower head was at chest height, meaning I basically had to kneel in that water to rinse my hair. To be fair, I discovered all of this late at night, and the front desk did fix everything the next day after I reported it. But that doesn’t erase the image of those food chunks on the sink where I had brushed my teeth the night before. There are plenty of other options in Monterrey, and life’s too short to risk another stay like this.
