After staying in this hotel for one night all I can say is if they give you room 109,ask for them to change it. I got back to my room late at night around 1am and all I could hear all night was the sound of a extractor fan humming all night, had around 2 hours sleep. Terrible night

Unfortunately not as we had hoped. The room must have been above some sort of generator or something similar as there was a continuous ‘vibrating’ or shaking feeling in the room - as well as a constant noise throughout the night.

Well located for my needs, however.

It was my intention to seek out the nearest hotel to a friend's surprise 50th birthday and finding that Ibis, a brand I have used before without any issue, need to complain and a sound night's sleep. However, I cannot find a reason to return to this site and am considering discounting completely this brand from my regular trips around the UK. The room, on arrival was second to a Youth Hostel and smelled like a teenager's bedroom - Lynx and regret. Add to this, cigarette burns on the carpi that had been worn down over the years, suspicious stains on the sofa next to the bed and with the gaps in the window, not only could I still hear the roads outside, I could smell the outflow pipes from the 24hr MacDonalds across the car park. The staff were wonderfully friendly on arrival and were the personification of helpfulness and courtesy, not only helping me with the local taxi companies that were over 30 minutes away each time I called them, they kept me entertained and engaged in conversation while I waited for my cab. Friendly and convivial is not the way I would describe the people I shared a floor with. between 00:00 and 06:00, all I heard were arguments, drunken disputes and many doors slamming. I strongly suggest you make it possible to allow your visitors to call direct for free, the duty manager and deal with such antisocial behaviour, I feel that if there were people staying with you with more of a nervous disposition or, worse of all, quick to antagonise and confront these arrogant and distinctively drunk people, things could have escalated quickly and being two floors up, I donut the half asleep night manager would have lifted a finger to call the correct authorities. Regardless of cost per night, I expect this brand to have higher respect for all its patrons. After just two hours of sleep I left without a thank you from the morning staff, feeling exhausted and reluctant to ever use Ibis hotels again. I have had better service at one of your city centre sites in Manchester on a derby day. Every business has its weak points, regrettably, I had to find this one the hard way. I regret having to deliver such bad news, it is not a habit, however, the joys of celebrating one of my oldest friend's landmark birthday, reconnecting with former school friends and meeting their families was marred by the simplest of expectations I have from any hotel, from 1 to 5 stars: a comfortable bed, a clean room and bathroom, friendly staff and a good night's sleep. Sadly, I experienced neither at Ibis Chesterfield North - Barlborough.

Despite 3 phone calls to customer services, the last 4 stays, despite 3 being included in the booking section of my Accor account, have not been recognised for points. These would also take me to a gold card and not a silver as has just been re-issued. Customer services say it’s the hotel at fault, but they say it’s customer services who need to sort it. Surely this should be easy to resolve???

In a queue to book in and members of staff who were off duty came running up to the desk to assist with checking all the guests in (amazing) the staff are a credit to the hotel and were very helpful throughout our stay. The room was spotless and comfortable, the breakfast is plentiful and very fresh. It was a very pleasant stay.

I had never stayed at an Ibis Hotel before. I chose this one because it was near to Barlborough Hospital. It was brilliant, the room was very clean and there was everything I needed for my three night stay. The staff were fantastic, very helpful and friendly. I will definitely stay here again when I am in the area. I cannot recommend it highly enough, it was very good value for money. No complaints at all.

My stay at the Ibis is best described as 'satisfied'. It served my purpose needing a quiet, clean room for 8 nights. I regularly stay, for work purposes, in a Budget hotel. This particular hotel could do with a 'lift' to the bedroom facilities. Clean, but dated would best describe my room. The window was drafty and would not secure properly with a couple of the fittings being broken. Bathroom was clean, but again felt dated as compared with the standard of Travelodge and Premier Inns which I have recently stayed in. A particular issue with my room was that it was over the outside area adjacent to the restaurant which meant that people congregated there later in the evening - presumably to smoke. These could be heard chatting until quite late into the night, but not sufficiently late to disturb my sleep. Staff were helpful at all times. The lady who service my room was particularly pleasant and did a good job. The last night, a Saturday, was slightly noisy as there was a Wedding group staying at the hotel who were noisy when returning to rooms between 1 and 3 in the morning.

I have stayed many times at this hotel and it is simply great value. The staff are friendly and helpful. The other thing to comment on is the breaksfast - great choice, and although the food is on hot plates, the food is fresh AND HOT! If anything runs out, it is quickly replaced.

On arrival there was a friendly greeting & our room was perfect for our needs. Happy to see a walk in shower, rather than a shower over a bath. The room was very warm & although we managed to open the windows the temperature kept my husband awake for part of the night. Other than fire evacuation instructions on the door there was no welcome/information pack in the room. Had we been staying longer I would have raised this with the staff on reception. Its location was perfect for us visiting family in Sheffield & we have already booked a return visit.
