Kind staff, but never fixed major problem

The staff was kind but we had a couch that was broken. We told the staff and they didn’t fix anything. You couldn’t sit in the couch because the bed underneath was completely broken. This was a big deal because it meant we only had a chair to sit in.

Unfortunately not like before

I had stayed in the hotel several times before and always left very good ratings. But not this time. A lot of things have changed compared to our last stays: 1) We arrived at 5 in the morning and asked for an early check-in. Normally we paid the rate of 1/2 day for this, now we had to pay a full day. 2) The room card is needed to access the respective floor with the elevator. This never really worked and I had to get five new cards during my stay. 3) No complimentary water, tea, or coffee in the room anymore. 4) Room incl. bathroom outdated and outworn. When I used the hair-dryer, the lights in the bathroom were flickering. 5) We had phoned the hotel before our booking and asked if there were any renovations and constructions planned as we experienced this last time. The answer was no but when we arrived, the gym and other sections of the hotel were not accessible and noisy work was taking place.

I was expecting a "Mercure Standard" hotel, but the state of the premises was utterly disappointing. The room was in a bad condition, starting with the sofa, all stained. The floor was coming up and crumbling - cracking as you stepped and with scattered parts loose. Some of the furniture seemed to have suffered a flood and were "swollen". The Internet was not good enough and wi-fi not available in the room, for example, only in the living room. Breakfast was not up to standard as well - regarding the food and the staff working. There was a day I was not allowed in due to the place be full, but no arrangement was done to help the clients who had business appointment and were not able to stay there waiting...

Great room with microwave oven and a sink. I was with my baby and it was essential to warm her food.

Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable but the rest was disappointing. The room has a kitchenette but there is no cleaning equipment, whcih means that you also need to wait for housekeeping to clean any items you use regularly (I follow a specific meal plan and cannot eat out too often). Location is ok...not great but not bad. The worst was the handling of the laundry...what a nightmare. It took 5 days of back and forth, changing instructions and information just to get some laundry cleaned, and it was delivered late, making me miss meetings that I was in Sao Paolo to attend.

Noisy room, annoying A/C single bed, not business appropriate

Noisy room - in front of a bar. Could not sleep from Thursday onwards due to the noise and scream outside. Annoying A/C - impossible to sleep with it on. Single bed - had never seen this in a hotel before. Felt in a motel Not business appropriate

Smoke and bad service

Besides all my information is updated in the Arcor’s system the checking took long than 20 minutes. The first room offered smell cigarettes smoke in each inch. So I returned to the reception and at minimum of the good will the receptionist change our room. Arriving to the new room everything as look good until then free chocolate and water were in the room. I did not eat the chocolate or dink the water since I was late to a party. Returning to my room late I figure out the chocolate and the water was removed from my room. Honestly do not recommend the Mercury services to anyone.

Service was good at all times, except when the delivery meal I ordered arrived and the reception desk did not call me. The room was not big but it was comfortable. The dining area was pleasant and the fitness center was OK. It is a pity that we could not use the beautiful swimming pool. The reason was that, even though it is indoors, there is no direct passage from the main building, so we were afraid to expose our toddler to the cold weather after she swam. That was the only disappointing aspect of our stay.

I use to stay in this hotel for more than 15 years, at least once a month. Cost-benefit ratio is good, and almost all employees already know me. They know exactly what I want, and are very kind. And location is absolutely perfect.

Good, basic quality, great food, limited outside space

Perhaps it is a factor of staying in Sao Paulo where city space is clearly at a premium, with many high rise buildings, but the hotel lacked outside space. It had a lovely huge foyer which would benefit from perhaps opening up more readily (bi-fold doors) into small garden area - with perhaps a coffee bar? The outside space was being renovated, but instead of park benches, some more comfortable seating, soft loungers, seating around tables would be more pleasant. Pool, odd that with swimsuit on and when wet, users have to walk through gym area - not encouraging for the more body conscious of us. Rooms nice, but for standard of hotel, I would have thought larger shower/bath towels, better quality accessories. No kettle - wouldn't think to heat water in a microwave. Restaurant - lovely food, lovely service. Piano bar area a nice touch but a little squashed (why not use that foyer area a bit more). Reception really helpful, friendly and accommodating. People sell the hotel - well done to all the staff (including housekeeping who kept my room pristine).

Simple but comfortable

I stay at this hotel mainly for its location in a lively and safe neighborhood and very near my closest friends. But it's also a very pleasant place to stay. The rooms are mini-suites that are cleverly configured, and if you have work to do, there's a desk area with outlets. The suite has all the basics--a TV that swivels to be used either in the living room or bedroom, a lockbox, a mini-bar and a microwave. There could be a few more kitchen utensils and the internet continues to be a little unpredictable--it's almost impossible to Skype. But the rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel's breakfast is okay but there's also an excellent bakery on the corner that's a good option for breakfast.
