The single rooms are small and sometimes the breakfast is very crowded and a booking system might help - but the staff are so helpful and the location is superb.

I stayed here for five nights in March. Let me start with the positives, because they deserve recognition. The location is fantastic — just steps from the Colosseum, with great views. Hard to beat that if you’re in Rome to sightsee. The staff were also genuinely excellent. The reception team were friendly and helpful, and the housekeeping staff were outstanding — the room was cleaned beautifully every day. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives mostly end. The room temperature was unbearable. Naturally, I tried lowering the air-conditioning to the minimum setting of 15°C. Nothing happened. The room remained stiflingly hot. When I checked with reception, I was told that because it is still considered their “winter season,” the entire hotel system can only heat rooms — cooling is simply not available until sometime in April. Yes, you read that correctly. The weather outside can do whatever it wants, but the hotel thermostat apparently follows a strict calendar. So if Rome happens to have warm days in March — which it frequently does — your options are simple: sweat, or open the windows and listen to the city all night. I chose the latter just to make the room remotely tolerable. I travel a lot and have stayed in hotels all over the world, and this is the first time I’ve encountered a hotel where guests cannot actually control the temperature in their own room. From a supposedly reputable international brand, this is frankly baffling. Then there’s the breakfast. Calling it underwhelming would be generous. The spread was limited, the quality mediocre, and — astonishingly — they won’t make omelettes. I’ve stayed in budget hotels that manage this without issue, but apparently it’s too much to ask here. And the coffee machine? A Nescafé machine producing what might be the worst cappuccino I’ve had anywhere in Italy. Serving that in Rome feels borderline criminal. So to summarise: • Fantastic location • Wonderful staff • Rooms that feel like saunas • Breakfast that feels like an afterthought Final score: 4/10 — and every one of those points goes to the staff, who deserve far better than the systems they’re working with.

Great location for exploring. Lots of good and reasonably priced restaurants close by. Bar service was excellent. Friendly and attentive barman. Front of house and restaurant staff also welcoming. Stayed for the marathon this time and this hotel is ideally located for the start and finish.
