Good: the location is convenient, and the staff at the front desk were helpful, including offering restaurant suggestions. Bad: the hotel fails miserably at the core task of a hotel room, which is getting a good night sleep. The room was unbearably hot and stuffy, but there was no way to control the temperature; even if I turned on the HVAC and reduced the temperature, it just blew hot air and made the room even hotter. I asked for the maintenance staff to come to the room and they advised that it is "heat only" and there's no way to cool the room. Unfortunately the sun in Rome remains hot well into the fall and buildings retain a lot of heat, especially in upper floors. It was a frustrating and sleepless night due to the "heat only" temperature situation. The room layout was also incredibly awkward, with the bathroom split into two tiny but separate pieces with a toilet at one end of the room and a shower at the other end.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We’re pleased to know that you found our location convenient and that our front desk team was able to assist you with restaurant suggestions and provide helpful service. However, we sincerely regret the discomfort caused by the temperature control system in your room. As you noted, our centralized HVAC system operates in a single mode (heating or cooling) depending on the season, which can be challenging during periods of unpredictable weather. We are actively working on solutions to make the system more flexible to better cater to our guests' needs. Regarding the bathroom layout, we understand that it may not meet everyone’s preferences. Feedback like yours is invaluable as we continue to assess areas where we can enhance the guest experience through design and functionality. We understand the importance of the issues raised and would like to show you our commitment in crediting you 6000 ALL points on your card so that you will be able to use them for a future stay in one of our hotel. We deeply apologize for not meeting your expectations on this occasion but hope that you might consider giving us another opportunity to provide a more comfortable stay in the future. Kind regards, Giuseppe Fioretti Room Division Manager Mercure Rome Centre Colosseum

After being back in Rome, I was really disappointed with this hotel. Location is great, close to the Colosseum. But that’s all then. Check in was very cold and short. Arriving in the room was even more so disappointing. Not mentioned on the website that the beds are only 1m90 on 1m60. If you see a guest checking in of 1m98. I would tell the guest about the beds. Airconditioning not working, hair in the shower and floor. Next morning asking for kingsize bed option, immediately mentioned that I need to pay. When saying I am a platinum member and can ask for free upgrade, they replied I had already one from twin bed room to double room. While I booked a double room. Then received a new room with kingsize bed. Again airconditioning not working. Breakfast, very basic. Feels like a cafeteria, not a 4* Mercure hotel. The bar is even worse. Not atmosphere or bar feeling. Friendliness of staff was okay. For the price you pay here, you can better book with little extra the Mercure on the other side or Rome. For my personal feeling this is more a Ibis or Ibis Styles then a Mercure hotel. Can not recommend this hotel in any way. Perhaps in the summer with the pool but that’s all then.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations and would like to address your concerns. We are glad you appreciated our location near the Colosseum. We regret any inconvenience you experienced with your initial room. All our beds are 200 cm in length including the ones in the Privilege rooms. However, I am glad we managed to give you an upgrade from the second night and for the rest of your stay, It is true that, as a Platinum Member, you can receive a free upgrade, but as you are certainly aware that relies on the hotel availability and there was none for the night of the 16th. Regarding the air conditioning, I can confirm that the air condition was not running at the time of your stay since we switch to heating during this time of the year. Unfortunately our system is not able to provide both at the same time but there is always room for improvement and will be certainly consider a possible upgrade for the future. Regarding the cleanliness issues, we take your comments seriously and will investigate and address them with our housekeeping Team. Please accept our apologies for any lapses in service. We strive to provide all guests, particularly our valued loyalty members, with a welcoming and comfortable experience. Your feedback will help us improve, and we hope you might give us another opportunity to better serve you in the future. Kind regards, Giuseppe Fioretti Room Division Manager Mercure Rome Centre Colosseum

We had a pleasant stay. The hotel is very close to the colloseum and metro. The room was clean and had a nice view of the colloseum, the bathroom needs a little work, as it has seen better days. Breakfast was good, large selection of pastries. Overall a good experience.
