Unfortunately, the room wasn't as clean as it should have been. There were cigarette butts left on the balcony, and the bathroom could have been cleaned much more thoroughly. I'm from the area and would have loved to be able to recommend this place to friends and family in the future, but these issues made that difficult. I hope the hotel improves its housekeeping standards, as it has the potential to provide a much better experience.

I have stayed at the Mercure before and had a better experience. This time was rather poor. I was staying there for business with several other (maybe 30) other work associates. There is a VERY small parking lot that was taken up by trucks from film crew. We were told we couldn’t use even the slightest spaces around the trucks and were forced to park in the garage for a charge, but the film crew proceeded to park cars exactly where we were told is inadmissible because of safety. The film crew also closed off the entire first floor and was trying to tell people we couldn’t use the stairs. On a night with heavy storms they tried to tell people we couldn’t use the stairways. My local team booked my travel in advance and added an extra day to the end of my stay. As I checked in (almost a week in advance) I informed them at the front desk I would be leaving one day early. This is pretty standard at many hotels to adjust check-out timing. This hotel is EXTREMELY inflexible and still charged for the nights after I had to depart. I travel to the town regularly for work, but I will be looking to stay at a different hotel in the future. Hotel Europa was a very nice alternative I have used in the past. The management staff is much more helpful and customer focused.

The city itself is super charming, and you can really experience its slow-paced lifestyle, with all the piazzas and lively public spaces. The hotel complements this perfectly with its super comfortable rooms and elegant yet modern interior. The only downside was the bartender’s manner of communication in the lobby bar.

The concert I was due to attend with my 13 year old son was cancelled so we could no longer come on the reserved date. I did not request a refund but the hotel refused to allow me to change the date so that myself and my son could come at a later date this summer. I have therefore paid for nothing and the service & communication from the establishment (including General manager Mr Anceschi) has been narrow-minded and frankly : disrespectful. I can share the exchanges with the Accor Group if you wish but I am not willing to waste any more of my time on this matter - Mercure Reggio Emilia has already taken good care of that as well as helping me wast my money. For Accor it would obviously be very simple to grant my logical request to switch dates. I will welcome any positive news from ACCOR about this but I do not wish to speak to anyone at the Mercure Reggio Emilia any more. Regards, S. H. si…
