Number of small recoverable issues marred this experience at Novotel Grenoble Center with main one being allocating a stay of 21+ days into room under a room being remodeled instead of upgrading to a bigger and more sufficient room for 2 people on extended work trip. This is fault of management and customer service at front desk not recognizing nor attempting to correct or provide better service. Next placement of provided room right across from housekeeping office leading to noise thru day having to be tolerated while wife, who occupied room during day, not able to overcome jet lag for number of days due to added noise from both remodeling upstairs and housekeeping across hall. Both could have been prevented by thinking ahead and assigning different room, especially when know booked for 21+ days. Next was attention to detail to housekeeping ckeaning room and not cleaning thoroughly...found dusty sock left from previous room occupants from who knows how long under couch and bed. Unacceptable! Desk chair was wooden frame and cushion was caving in due to broken, housekeeping kept taking room card for lighting and would have to get another, lights would not work requiring service to replace bulbs, broken dish provided for meal and not removing but just keep reusing. All small things but can be corrected and lead to better rating but main issue leading to low recommendation is the room assignment when knowing booked for 3 weeks and given room under another being remodeled and not upgraded to better more sufficient room for 2 people on extended work trip.

We are a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children ages 14, 12 and 10) and we booked two rooms for one night: one suite with double sofa bed and one classic room. That way each family member would get a bed to themselves (my husband and I had to go in separate rooms to look after the children because there did not seem to be an adjoining room option). To get the best rate we also signed up to be Accor members before booking. The day before we were due to stay we received an email (not even a telephone call) informing us that the hotel was undergoing renovation works and that the suite room was unavailable. Fortunately when we telephoned, the receptionist was able to offer us two classic rooms next to each other. We were informed that we should not have even been able to book a suite due to the renovations but that the website had a "glitch" which meant that Accor members were still being able to book rooms that weren't available. When we arrived, we were then informed that there was a very large walking party staying and that breakfast was likely to be incredible busy. Sure enough, breakfast was packed full. This party all arrived to eat at the same time. As a result, all the tables were full and all the food eaten very quickly. Of course the staff worked hard to refresh the food as soon as they could, but unfortunately we arrived at a time when there was nothing left so we had to wait a while for more food to come out. We felt that the renovation works and the error in the room availability should have been communicated to us at the time of booking, not the day before we were due to arrive.
