Not what I expect of a Novotel. My first impression was not great - a button stuck together with lots of tape and a note explaining you had to push to enter, but then the door was unlocked anyway. Inside the reception and bar area seemed nice so my hopes went up that this would be a positive stay. From there, I'm afraid, it was not a positive experience. I was given a room card for a room that was already occupied so, upon entering, found a man in there. When I got to my room, it was basic to say the least. The quality was lacking for a Novotel. It felt very dated with no thought put into providing a nice coffee/tea area. The soap in the bathroom had come off the bracket but left like that for my stay. The door to the toilet was like cardboard. That evening I planned to order room service. I couldn't find a QR code anywhere so ended up having to go to reception to get a physical menu. I went back to my room but was unable to call down to place my order as the phone in my room was a normal hotel phone and pressing 0 did not go to reception. Again, I had to go down to place my order. All in all it was not a great experience and I will not be staying there on future work trips to the area.

However, there were some issues with the invoice process. I was charged for breakfast even though I did not use the breakfast service during my stay. In addition, the response time to my complaint email has been very slow. I requested a revised invoice, but I have still not received a reply. I believe these issues detract from the overall quality and professionalism of the hotel.

You gave me a room where the toilet was yellow, impossible to be used and in a hotel that is supposed to have been renovated (I have the photo as proof). I went down to ask for a room change and your staff gave me a new key to a room which was occupied!! All this at 11pm, you can imagine my surprise to enter a room used by someone else and the unpleasant surprise for the guest. I ended with a third room and left the hotel the next day. Novotel Grenoble has a bad reputation and I see it is justified.

No minibar and no safe in the first family room we were assigned. Then we were moved to another room, where we had to ask for additional towels, soap and toilet paper. Furthermore the aircon did not work and we were several times promised a fan, but nothing happened.

UGLY The Novotel Grenoble Centre is not in in a beautiful location (rather ugly old modern buildings and empty square). GREAT LOCATION Yet its location is extremely practical next to the station. GREAT PEOPLE More importantly, the personnel was very nice. This included the teams at the checking desk (an Italian lady), the gentleman handling the IT (a French man) as well as the cleaners. This clearly added and improved the experience. ADD A TERRACE EXPERIENCE A note of potential improvement would be the breakfast area: given the beautiful days and heat in the afternoon, it would’ve been great to have the ability to eat breakfast, drink tea outside on the terrace. I really think that is a little thing which would help further improve the experience for customers. The same could be said for the Bar at night. Adding a bit of Green with plant and bushes on the terrace would probably enhance it further. Basically my take would be that the square is these humanised and having it proper terrace and a few plants could help compensate and naturally improve the Hotel experience for customers.
