Rather spartan, more an Ibis Budget

This is a somewhat odd hotel, two huge unconnected buildings, and although it's billed as a standard ibis it's very spartan, more like an oldish ibis Budget. There's no tea/coffee-making facilities and no fridge, and it looks like it was someone else's 1980s-era hotel that Accor took over. The AC is barely functional, luckily you can open the windows to get fresh air in but then you get a lot of street noise so it's a bit of a tradeoff. The one feature is that it's a short walk from the main station, and there's an Aldi nearby to get food from.

The hotel is very basic. There is no bar or lounge area and the staff were rude and unhelpful. Our room was tiny and cramped with virtually no storage and the bathroom was old, dated and grubby. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel, no kettle in the room and the sheets weren’t changed during the week we stayed there.

Strange Ibis!

This is a large, strange Ibis with 2 huge building blocks next to each other but not connected. From the exterior and interior it is clear that 2 apartment blocks from the Communist era were converted into this hotel. I was upgraded to a corner suite that had leather furniture, yuck! Totally unlike Ibis! Except for the lobby it does not look and feel like an Ibis at all. The plumbing in the bathroom is strange too. The sink and the shower share a single faucet! However, the location is good, walking to the train station and exploring the city.

Portucale TripAdvisor review

We stayed in your hotel for one night during our trip to Dresden. Great location and a short walk into the city centre. Train station 5-minute walk away was very convenient. The room we stayed in was in the next building from where we booked in at reception. During our stay we were tailgated by two individuals. We confronted one who we do no believe was a guest at the hotel. This may raise concern for safety? Although the room was well enough appointed it was very dated and in need of a refurb. The furniture was very shabby and the room very depressing. Unfortunately, we would not return to your hotel if we were ever to return to Dresden.
