The hotel is very clean, modern, and conveniently located by a train station, many cafes, restaurants, and landmarks. I booked for 2 nights and sadly suffered a bad sprained ankle on my first night in the city. Fortunately, there was a pharmacy right around the corner from the hotel and I was able to make myself very comfortable in the room. There was a record breaking heat wave going on and the AC handled it effortlessly. I look forward to visiting again and having more opportunity to explore the beautiful city.

The hotel was a lovely place to relax not noisy or busy, but friendly, very comfortable beds and room service was excellent. Breakfast was hearty and had good choices with a good time span by which to eat it. Great location with an easy walk to the river Rhine or a walk to the City Center.

Very underwhelming… obviously IBIS is a budget, no frills chain, however in Mainz it is only €20 cheaper per night than the 5 star Hyatt across the road. No iron, safe, kettle, not even so much as a bottle of water in the room. This wouldn’t be an issue, only when I went downstairs on the first night for a cup of tea, I was charged for the privilege. Will not be staying again.

The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was good with a wide variety of tasty items, but not all of them were labelled and some were not quickly replenished when they ran out. The staff were all professional and polite. Car parking was an issue and our ticket did not activate the mechanism for opening the gate. We had to report this at reception and the matter was addressed but we were then late for our evening appointment. The other issue was flooding from our sink on the second day. This was quickly dealt with by the staff but it meant moving all our belongings and ourselves to another room at 10 pm. We would consider staying at the hotel again but would appreciate your response to the issues raised.

Mainz is very well situated as is the hotel where we stayed. I had deliberately booked a superior room expecting it to be just that. Our room was a good size and nice and quiet. But I have never stayed in an hotel anywhere in the world where I had to make my own bed and wash the cups each day. The room service was very poor. The breakfast buffet was nice and varied but the items which should have been warm ( bacon and scrambled eggs) were not warm at all. Because of the location the hotel should have a lot of repeat bookings but if other travellers had a similar experience I imagine they would be unlikely to return. Sorry to be negative but our stay could have been so much better with only a few small improvements.
