I'm a frequent Novotel client and have to say I have been really disappointed wiht this stay. No Air Conditioning, Coffee Machine broken, no soap (soap distributor not working), Shower broken... I will consider changing hotel for my stay in Zurich.

Bad odor! and rang the front desk but no one ever picks up

Room had a bad stench. Noticed as soon as I entered the room so I opened the window to vent but that didn’t help. Odor could be soaked in the carpet. Should check when was the last time the carpet was renewed. Room phone was helpless. Rang the front desk using the room phone at least 5 times but no one picked up. Should have a voice message system if no one is going to pick up or call back.

I noticed a broken shower and some dark mold on the isolation rubber in the bathroom nearby the shower...not really value for money. Isolation of the rooms is also very poor...i was able to hear in the next room the TV and the shower...

The 4* hotel needs quite some improvement, bath tub damaged and very poorely repaired, tile broke , tabouret in the room ragged... when I arrived the room was very cold and the water heater was not working. The breakfast was ok but not as rich as 5 years ago when I stayed last. The stuff was quite helpful.

Fix the coffee machine

Warm welcome and friendly staff at Novotel Zurich as always, but signs of stress perhaps because of the influx of travel groups from Asia - TV remote in my room did not work (was replaced next day), coffee machine only worked for half the capsules inserted (which cannot be recovered), and there are too few of the overworked staff in the bar/restaurant so waiting times are quite long, and the restaurant menu has taken a step backwards.

A shame to the Novotel brand

I posted this on TripAdvisor earlier in the week - I hope you take this into account: "If this is a 4* hotel, I'm afraid I've rarely seen worse. The positives are that the reception staff are nice, but the hotel is not. It's clear that this hotel needs to be gutted out and refurbished. Everything simply looks run down. The Philips television set in my room was from 2006 (I recognised it because I bought mine in 2005 - and was replaced years ago). The bathroom has hints of mould, tap markings have long been rubbed off and the bathtub clearly chipped many times. The furniture and carpets definitely look aged and worn out. No irons in the room - I managed to find an ironing room near the gym on the top floor, but not well marked. It really does look a time capsule from the mid-2000s. Breakfast itself was a bit grim. Whilst there is a decent variety, the quality isn't good. Dried out bits of bacon were the main disappointment. Yes, this is an airport hotel - even Swiss cabin crew use this airport for layovers (my room was near their lounge room) and there are plenty of tourists in transit. But for a four star hotel, this place doesn't cut it. I think even Accor know this, as room rates are lower than you might expect." The summary of my experience is that I will be avoiding Novotel Zurich Airport Messe except as a place to stay as a last resort. The state of the hotel really destroys the Novotel brand, and I'm willing to guess that even your other lower brand tier hotels are in better condition than this. Please note though, I have no issues with your helpful staff. My concerns relate mainly about the state of the hotel.

I have stayed in the hotel for the last 10 years, and the hotel could really do be being refreshed (and the restaurant/gourmet bar could do with a new/interesting menu)

Noise, no earplugs

Hi. The room I stayed was extremely noisy, I could not sleep. I asked the reception to provide some earplugs they said they don't have it. I never faced this in my whole life a hotel that does not have earplugs. I am extremely dissatisfied.

Stupid Gym hours.

I was shocked that the gym is only open from 6h00 to 22h00. When I found out about this, I checked out and checked into a hotel with a 24 hour gym. THERE IS NO REASON to have fixed hours (for such a poor gym.)

We found all staff we encountered to be very courteous and happy to assist with any questions.... The room was good, bed comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was good and we enjoyed dinner and drinks at the bar... very good location to the tram just outside that was an easy trip into the city... We would stay here again and would recommend the hotel to others.
