I've had the privilege to stay at many five star hotels over the years. Over time, I've learned that a "five star hotel" can mean one of two things. There are the hotels that hold five stars because they belong to the right chain or charge the right price. Then, there are the hotels that hold five stars because they transform the hotel experience into an exciting, bold, luxury experience. The latter is rare, and I am so glad to say that the Sofitel Bogotá is among them. Beyond the beautiful room, building, and ideal location were the thoughtful and unique touches and details. The nightly coca tea ritual pays tribute and, more importantly, respect to Colombian culture. Coca is a difficult topic to broach in the modern day but in ancient times, it was used for healing and inspiration. Sofitel has respected and honored this history by providing coca tea before bed to help guests with sleep and altitude acclimation. This was clearly a decision made by someone with impeccable taste and cultural awareness. The most important part of the stay that deserves to be called out though was the service. Again, not my first time at a five star hotel, but this was next level service. We requested room service to be delivered at a particular time, which I wouldn't normally do but was necessary due to our schedule. The food came at the exact time we asked for it, and was impeccable. In fact, it was one of the best meals we had on our trip. One person who needs to be recognized is Daniel. Daniel should teach a class in luxury hospitality. From check in to check out, he had our backs throughout our whole stay. An expert of all things Bogotá, his recommendations of the city proved accurate and enhanced our trip greatly. As we checked out, Daniel walked us to our car to the airport and loaded our luggage. This was at 7 am by the way. That's class. I travel a lot for pleasure and for business. I've been a loyalist of other brands for a very long time but because of this trip, Sofitel will be getting a LOT of business from me and the people in my life.

Everything was excellent, but I was dissapointed when the $100 offered through the American Platinum benefit did not apply to a massage for this specific Sofitel as indicated by the very small print.

At the same time, we sincerely apologize for the disappointment regarding the USD 100 credit. We fully understand how frustrating it can be to expect to use a benefit and then discover limitations. We would like to clarify that our spa services are operated by an external third-party provider, not directly managed by the hotel. For this reason, the credit cannot be applied to spa treatments, as indicated in the Hotel Collection benefits letter provided at check‑in. However, we completely understand your dissatisfaction, and we are truly sorry for any inconvenience or confusion this situation may have caused. It is never our intention to create discomfort for our guests, and we sincerely regret that this affected your experience. We are delighted to know that you received excellent service from our team and would like to thank you for recognizing Víctor as a standout contributor to your stay, we will proudly share your kind words with him. Check in process is slow even for Colombia standards. Rooms are nice and clean. Food in the restaurant is not bad but just not great.
