We have been staying at the Sofitel in Bogota for many years. Every time we visit family (every couple of years), this is where we stay. This time the hotel was under renovation, which is a good thing but staying during it is not as pleasant as the past. Inadequate bar and breakfast areas and the rooms are also in need of updating.

Misleading description of gym and restaurant in website. Booked hotel based on amenities mentioned on your website and then the gym is a disaster and restaurant being renovated (no restaurant basically).

Excellent customer service. Nice decor. Great location in the area of malls and restaurants. Safe neighborhood. In-house Resturant food is great but recommend more vegan / vegetarian options. Room was well supplied with toiletries etc. Bedding was a negative since it was extremely soft and pillows too thin. In USA we rare used to much firmer mattresses. I would definitely stay there again. Strongly recommend the place. Good value for the money spent.

Construction everywhere and no notifications ahead of arriving at the hotel

We arrived late in the night after flying in from the United States. Greatly disappointed at not knowing about the construction in front of the hotel as well as inside the hotel. Room service was so so. Our eggs arrived cold and we weren’t even given basic glasses of water with our meals. Feels like the service has changed since we stayed here last year. We were going to stay an extra day after touring outside of Bogota , but decided to stay elsewhere.

Very nice stay. Staff was really outstanding throughout. But the street in front was totally torn up with construction noise during the day. Restaurant also closed with service relocated to another room in back. Room a bit sparse with two reading lights but only one nightstand! And one chair. A bit inconvenient for two people.

Good hotel but won‘t come back.

The Sofitel is a nice hotel. Good location in Zona Rosa. Friendly staff. Nice room. Nice breakfast buffet. The beds are very comfortable. At the moment there is some construction in front of the hotel but it didn‘t bother us too much. The only negative thing happened at checkout. We were asked to pay the local VAT which added 19% to the previously confirmed room price. I said I have a confirmation that I will be tax exempt because I am a European tourist. They said their finance department does not allow tax exemption because of a new stamp that immigration uses and I should have been informed at check in time. I was not informed at check in time and actually I would have expected to be informed about even before my arrival so I have the choice of staying somewhere else as the 19% extra decreases the price/performance ratio significantly. During our stay in Columbia we stayed in two other hotels who had no problem with exempting us from the VAT. So for our last night in Bogota we chose to stay at JW Marriott and also no problem with VAT exemption. So I don‘t know what‘s wrong with the finance department at Sofitel but i feel cheated by them.

We really sorry about the inconvenience with the taxes at the check-out time unfortunately at that specific moment the law about the exemption of taxes was not clear and it was mandatory to charge the taxes to all the guests. Due to this situation and once it was clarified we check all the cases and we are going to refund you the money of the taxes that applies to you credit card, you will receive the money en around 20 regular days. After seeing the massive construction in the street in front of the Hotel and being advised that hotel rooms were being remodeled and there could be some noise, I was impressed by the perfect silence. Sofitel has been my hotel of choice for over 10 years, and we hope to be able to "inaugurate" the new rooms next year!

I love this hotel. I have been staying here when visiting Bogota for more than 15 years and really like it. There have been two full renovations in that time (there is one going on now): that keep the facilities up to date. But what makes it special is the staff.
