Ok hotel. Breakfast was good, liked that we could get our own coffee. Disappointed we paid around $900 American for 3 nights for the room. The balcony was pretty and large but the "view" left a lot to be desired as it looked into the windows of an office building and constant noise from the fan on top of the office roof was unpleasant. We requested a square view room which didn't happen unfortunately which is fine but felt a little deceptive that we were NOT informed there would be work being done on the face of the building during our stay. I wouldn't have paid what we did had I known more or seen it prior to making the reservation. Bed was good, decor good, nice large TV (though I don't know why there's a smart TV with Netflix, etc if you're blocked from actually logging into the apps amd stuck with standard TV anyways :/). Bathroom was pretty and showerhead was delightful. However our room had a sewage smell we figured out seemed to be coming from the sink drain. Covering the drain holes with a wet towel when we werent using it made a huge difference. Nice hotel but overall for the price I feel there should be issues warned about or taken care of for guests.

Dear Sarah, Thanks for taking the time to review your visit to our hotel. We are pleased that you enjoyed the breakfast and found our beds comfortable. It's great to hear that the decor and the shower head in our well-appointed bathrooms met your expectations. However, it is regrettable that aspects of your visit did not live up to your expectations, including the view from your room and the unwelcome noise. We understand that the maintenance work on our building's facade was an unforeseen inconvenience, however, I am struggling to see, if you were in the back of the building, where the view was unobstructed - why was this an issue? The view, which you described is overlooking the castle, the Firth of Forth and bridges, furthermore, we would have loved to swap your room in case you had reported to us as none of the 6th floor rooms are/were affected by the scaffolding. Furthermore, we are disheartened to learn of the odour issue you experienced; please accept our sincere apologies for the discomfort this may have caused. We also acknowledge your comments regarding the smart TV functionalities, however it is not a feature we currently advertise, hence it is not set up yet - but it is down in the pipeline for 2025. Nevertheless, we are delighted that the location of our hotel, in the heart of Edinburgh, contributed positively to your stay. Our proximity to key attractions and convenient access to shopping centres is something we are proud of, and we hope it enhanced your time in the city. It would be a pleasure to welcome you again. Kindest regards,

Well located

Comfortable stay & room situated at the back of the hotel which was quiet. Clean, chilled vibe & a good choice for an overnight stay. It was disappointing that the front of the hotel was hidden by scaffolding on arrival and no mention of that but it didn’t affect our view or privacy thank fully. Breakfast was a simple continental breakfast.

Dear Fiona, Thank you for taking the time to share feedback about your recent stay with us. We are delighted that you found our hotel comfortable and appreciated the quiet atmosphere of your room. Our team works hard to ensure a pleasant experience for all our guests, so it's wonderful to hear that you enjoyed these aspects of your stay. However, we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by the presence of scaffolding and we understand this may have been unexpected. We are currently undergoing improvements to enhance our guests' experience and we will certainly take your comments into account to better inform our future guests about any ongoing work. We also appreciate your feedback on our complimentary Continental breakfast and note your preference for hot options. Nevertheless, we're pleased that you found our location convenient. Our central position in Edinburgh's New Town, just a short walk from the new St James shopping centre and Waverley station, is indeed one of our key advantages. We were there for the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. The location of the hotel was grand, but the hotel itself leaves a bit to be desired. The hotel is not "conventional" The decor is a bit of the wall. The bathroom doors are obnoxious. The light and all sounds emanating for the bathroom are experienced by anyone in the room because of the door. The Gen Z check in staff is rather brusque. You get the feeling like they are doing you a favor checking you in, but in fairness maybe they were having a bad day. It was clean.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at our hotel. We are delighted that you found our location convenient for your visit to Edinburgh. However, we regret to hear that the unique design of our hotel did not meet your expectations. Our hotel's quirky decor reflects the vibrant spirit of Edinburgh, aiming to offer a unique guest experience. We understand that our bathroom door design may not be to everyone's taste and we appreciate your perspective. Regarding the interaction with our reception team, we are sorry if the service felt less than welcoming. We take pride in our personalised service and what you experienced does not reflect our usual standards. We will follow up on this with our team. Nevertheless, we are pleased to hear that the cleanliness of our hotel met your satisfaction. Providing a clean and comfortable environment is paramount to us and we're glad you appreciated our efforts. We hope to welcome you back. Best wishes,

This Ibis is a good value.

Very nice option for visiting Edinburgh. This was the first time staying in New Town after numerous stays in Old Town. Room is small but that's expected of a city centre room. Beds are comfortable, room was nice & quiet, great shower & the decor was appealing. Large TV for the space, which was a bonus. Front desk staff friendly & helpful. Hotel has a lift, which is appreciated with bags! Location is convenient to walk to Waverley train station and also to the bus station. Breakfast (included) was good with plenty of self-serve options & a coffee machine that offers several different coffees...loved that. And it starts early...6:30 AM, thumbs up on that. At other times, you can order other food from a limited menu at the bar. Hotel aesthetic is contemporary & pleasant with lots of art. Would definitely stay here again.

We're glad our front desk team could contribute positively to your experience, and that you found the convenience of our lift and the prime location of our hotel to be beneficial for your exploration of Edinburgh. Your compliments on the inclusive breakfast with its varied options and the coffee machine are much appreciated. The hotel is in a great area for everything. Shower was a little small but adequate. Was ask when we were going to leave before we had breakfast!!

Dear William, Thank you for reviewing your recent stay. We are thrilled that our central location contributed positively to your stay in Edinburgh, being so close to the best shopping, dining, and cultural sites the city has to offer. However, we apologise if the dimensions of the shower did not quite meet your expectations. Our building, rich in history as a former bank, does mean that some rooms and features are compact. We also regret if there was any confusion regarding your departure time. Our team aims to provide efficient service, and we are sorry if this came across as hurried. We look forward to welcoming you back. Kind regards,
