We were supposed to be going to Dubai but had to change. This prompted us to look at other warm locations within a short flight from London. We had never heard of Taghazout Bay before but came across the Fairmont hotel and it looked lovely. We were excited to be trying somewhere new. We had a suite right on the oceanfront (4211) which was wonderful. However, there were some small difficulties: we had to request towels, shower gel and glasses on several occasions despite the room having been serviced. We shouldn't have to ask, these things should be spotted. Also there was only a very limited mini bar with some soft drinks and no snacks. We would expect more in a suite at a 5 star hotel. The hotel had a lovely selection of restaurants and we enjoyed all the food we ate. However, the service was patchy - for example we often had to ask someone to pour our wine and we saw other guests getting annoyed by this too. We wouldn't have minded pouring it ourselves but the ice bucket was placed away from the table. In Beef and Reef they brought the Mixed Grill but without the sides we had ordered. When we explained we would like the food altogether (again, we shouldn't have to) the waiter said he didn't take our order so it wasn't his problem. That's not a good attitude. The SPA was excellent, from a facilities and services perspective and also the massages we had were great. Rita was outstanding. I played golf at Taghazout but there was no restaurant, bar or refreshments available at the course due to a change of ownership. The concierge should know this in advance and let the guest know. These are all minor points but they may cause people to reconsider coming back. I hope this is not the case as the hotel is lovely overall and should get more business now the UAE is not deemed safe. When we return in a year or 2 we hope to see the improvements. Thank you.

Overall we had a wonderful stay. Our room was perfect with beautiful ocean views and the housekeeping tea, did a great job. The only slight issue we had with the room was that the plug socket in the bathroom didn't work and so we had to awkwardly dry our hair in the main bedroom without access to a mirror. The resort itself lovely and spacious. Initially we were disappointed that the adult only pool was closed for the duration of our stay but in the end it made little difference to our enjoyment. The family pool is great and the service there was excellent. It's the staff and service which really make this property shine. Everyone we encountered during our stay was incredibly welcoming, friendly, accommodating and not to mention, efficient. The team really did make our stay and I can't praise them enough.
