The location is a bit far from the touristy area, so we needed to Uber everywhere but we already knew that. Not a deal breaker for us. We were relying on the Sofitel brand and its reputation for a comfortable stay. The breakfast is so slow. Idk how people manage to get out of the hotel for the rest of the day when the service is that slow. The whole experience was at least over an hour, and most of the time we were waiting on the server to take our order, or for the food to arrive, or for them to bring us the check. The concierge was very friendly and willing to help. But they were so slow in getting information and also didn’t have access to the computer, which seemed to be necessary for them to get information for us. They also had me wait to get to their computer to purchase the discounted tickets to the botanical garden and then after much waiting, they told me that it’s cash only, which was frustrating, considering we didn’t have any Canadian dollars in cash with us. So that was a lot of waiting there too for information that was unhelpful.

This is a great location with great amenities and staff. The room was beautiful and clean with a big, spacious bathroom and comfortable bed. All of the staff was gracious and attentive, from the doorman to housekeeping.

Hotel service was great. Rooms were a bit dated. Turndown service was inconsistent (one night we had it, two nights we did not). Location is nice. Gym is a bit small for a hotel this size; only three treadmills.

In general, I was satisfied with the amenity, cleanness, and coziness of the hotel room. However, for a 5-star hotel, I would expect a better customer service. When I reached the counter for check-in, the staff did not welcome or greet me at all as if she did not think I had a reservation until I presented my ID. Then I asked the French-speaking concierge questions about parking in English (he DID speak English, by the way), not only did he not answer them, but he showed impatience almost immediately when he realized I did not speak French. Thankfully, another concierge helped me eventually and even offered to lend me an umbrella as it was pouring that day, somewhat made up for the previous poor service.

Amazing property. The location is perfect for being close to anything you might want to do. Walk to Mount Royal, down the street from the Museum of Fine Arts, close by train to Mile End, and surrounded by great food in the heart of downtown. The service and accommodation were amazing, with a friendly and helpful staff.The building and rooms were very modern and nice, and the food at the hotel was genuinely some of the best we had in the whole city. My one complaint was about the mini-bar snacks in the room. Upon check-in, we were told we were being sent up a complimentary welcome gift. Later, once we got to the room, there was a box of small snack bags and a small bottle of wine on our counter, but there was no sign or paper saying what it was. We figured this was the welcome gift, since there was already a separate mini-fridge with drinks we knew you had to pay for. Upon check-out, we were in informed the box of snacks and the small wine bottle were no complimentary, and we had to pay for it. It was a misunderstanding on our part, but it would have been nice if there was some kind of notice saying that they were not free. If we had known they were not free, we wouldn’t have opened them. As a hotel guest where many things are complimentary, I would appreciate knowing what is complimentary and what is not. Felt a bit like an intentionally vague cash-grab, to be honest.
