1 star for accessibility. The disability access door button didn’t work, on the outside so required the busy receptionist to let you in. My room was highlighted as accessible and it ticked the boxes in terms of wet room, handles and emergency alarms, all which I don’t need, though nice to have a walk in shower. The door to the room was too heavy for me to manoeuvre with my mobility scooter, thankfully I can mobilise, collapse and pull into the room. Recommend a push button here as a minimum. Power sockets were situated next to the bed, behind a low side table and an extension at the opposite side of the room. Recommend a minimum of a double socket near to the bed and the one behind the table to be raised. If mobility isn’t an issue, the extension would be good. If mobility is an issue, like in my case, not useful at all. Two mirrors in the hotel, none where you could to apply makeup, and none near to the hair dryer. Recommend a minimum of a chair to sit. Leaving the room on my scooter was an exercise in itself. The door was too heavy to hold, and too heavy to prop open with my bag. Needless to say many back and forwards to the corridor carrying bags and pulling my collapsed scooter were required. This created a lot of interest on the corridor and lots of attention from other guests. I just wanted to get out of my room, without any fuss. Breakfast in the hotel is a challenge if you have limited mobility. Very busy, no one on hand to assist if needed and no space for a mobility scooter, and probably tight for a wheel chair. Then the lift is another story. It will fit a mobility scooter and one other person, intimately. Getting to the lift in itself creates many a situation. On the ground foot chairs are very close to the entrance. On the fifth floor where I stayed I couldn’t manoeuvre in one turn, and a large plastic storage container prevented me from using one lift to go down as not enough room to turn. Leaving the hotel at peak foot flow via the lift was not straight forward. I waited for an empty lift, whilst a kind American guest ensured he waited with me until I was on my way, stopping others entering my lift. Leaving the hotel goes back to the push button. The receptionist needed to access as on the wrong side and too high. If you are travelling with someone who could help with the basics, this would do. If you’re travelling alone, it’s no good as this hotel disables you and removes your independence.

A Cozy Stay in Manchester

AwsumNK TripAdvisor review

During my trip to Manchester in May 2023, I chose to stay at this budget-friendly hotel for four nights. The hotel’s location was convenient, approximately a 15-minute walk from the city center. Although the room was compact, it was tidy and comfortable, with a clean attached bathroom. The hotel staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring our room was cleaned daily. Despite some ongoing construction nearby, the noise level was manageable. The buffet breakfast, available for an additional £9, was definitely worth it! However, it’s worth noting that the room didn’t have an air conditioner; instead, it had some sort of climate control unit which wasn't too effective. Overall, I recommend this hotel for a short and pleasant stay in Manchester
