We were disappointed with our stay at the Ibis Styles Barcelona City Bogatell on account of the consistently unreasonably high temperature in the room that made it impossible to sleep. The only thing more tiresome was the GREENWASHING that came in the spiel explaining why the air conditioner couldn’t be turned on. “It’s for energy conservation, emissions relief” Notwithstanding, the room was advertised with air conditioning, which was false. Air conditioning was simply not available and not because of unserviceability, just greed. The hotel was near capacity with all paying a significant rack rate for the privilege (and adding to the heat issue), and the hotel simply didn’t want to pay for the electricity. Our only consolation was the poor staff who worked tirelessly to placate the vast numbers of guests with the same complaint. Stop being so tight. Or tell people they won’t have air conditioning before they stay, so they don’t have to make a choice between sweating to sleep or mildly less while they bash away at mosquitos all evening that barely fit through the inch cracked window. Boooooooooo……
