Far from Airport and City Center but attractive rates & good standard, is definitely worth it!

I stayed at the Ibis Berlin Spandau hotel for one night in the middle of September this year and was pleased with the stay. There were a direct S-Bahn train all the way from the Berlin (BER) Airport but the trip took a over one hour as the train starts from the Airport and terminate at Spandau, so it's quite a distance both from the Airport, but also to the city center that its about 35 minute ride too, but as the public transport in Berlin is pretty inexpensive, it's Worth it. The Ibis Berlin Spandau hotel was also the cheapest red Ibis hotel in the Berlin area available at an attractive rate that weight up for the remote location and travel time. I was allocated a room on the top floor just as per my request and was heartly acknowledged as an Accor ALL Gold member and given a complimentary two hour early check in as well. The reception staff was most courteous with a smile and it showed that they both enjoyed their jobs and had worked up a good routine, which I know from previous experiences in other locations is not always the case in suburban Ibis locations, which of course is complimentary for me as an Accor shareholder too. The room was a standard red Ibis hotel room with all the standard amenities and features. The view from the windows offered spectacular views and the room was spotlessy clean as well. WiFi Connection strong and consistent throughout the whole stay. The only discrepancy would be that the wall-mounted Philips brand flat screen Smart-TV that was fitted with a Chromecast couldn't be properly used, as it wasn't connected to the Internet. The location is right beside the S- and U-Bahnhof and Rathaus Spandau and built in and upon the galleria/mall "Spandau Arcaden" that unfortunately was a failing mall with several stores closed, only a small Netto minimart, as the Edeka hypermarket now is closed, but there is a big Kaufland hypermarket a 10 minute walk away. Unfortunately the area right outside the hotel and the galleria and especially the train station is a hot spot for a lot of drug addicts, homless people and irregular migrants and that made it a little bit sad and after dark also it made me feeling somewhat unsafe. But over all I was very pleased with this hotel and it is Worth it for the very attractive rates despite the distant location. I therefore recommend the Ibis Berlin Spandau hotel and would stay there again!

The hotel is well located and was clean. Sadly there is no kettle in the room. The mattress was very thin and the carpet had seen better days. The space for storing clothes is poor . I would suggest the hotel is good for short breaks but not for longer stays

Reasonable price and value for money although very far from the city center and a whole 1 hr 48 min direct train ride S-Bahn from Berlin-Brandenburg Airport (BER). Located in in/next to/upon a (dying) mall (Spandau Arcaden) and unfortunately a whole lot of homeless people and drug addicts and drifters are hanging around the corner and there is police sirens going off at all times of the day can be a bit overwhelming, but that’s Berlin (Spandau) in 2024 for You. Easy to reach though with both the S-Bahn (commuter train) and the U-Bahn (subway) both terminating here. But I have to say it didn’t feel like a totally safe neighborhood even in broad daylight in the middle of the day. The room on the 10th (top) floor was offering a great view and was a standard Ibis red hotel room with the usual configuration. Very clean and up to code with no discrepancies or scratches or damages or anything. Only downside was that the Philips brand Smart TV had built in Chromecast as well as apps for both YouTube and Netflix but sadly the Smart TV wasn’t connected to the Internet. I was acknowledged as an Accor ALL Gold member and was subsequently awarded an early check in 2 hours before the ordinary check in time and I was given a warm welcome and a wide selection of welcome drinks to choose from. Very polite and serviceable and customer service oriented and friendly staff and attentive and smiling. Didn’t have any breakfast but smelled good and looked great from what I could see. Would definitely recommend this hotel for both the high quality and the attractive price and the good service and staff however bear in mind that it is quite far from the city center and unfortunately I have to speak the truth that the surrounding area is unfortunately a little bit dodgy, but anyway I sure liked it minus the issue with the connectivity issues with the Smart TV and not being able to connect and streaming from my iPhone however that’s my only remark. Could definitely recommend and would stay there again.
