Although we did have our dog with us and understanding that we probably wouldn’t be given a particularly great room i did expect a little more comfort. The shower was pretty grotty i didn’t bother using it- i wasn’t sure if things were unclean or just in need of renovation. The soap in the hand basin would not dispense so i had to go in the shower for soap. Cheap and cheerful some may say not so cheerful but not that cheap at 94€ including doggy although i guess our ‘budget’ breakfast wasn’t much. Not very exciting and too many sweet things. Ive had better. Overall not impressed as im comparing to a premier inn in the uk. I was told 3 times they would send the bill by email - still not received it. The girl at reception was nice enough but didn’t make it plain that we could park in the secure parking behind. She said wed need a code to get out buu i thought the section we were in was the parking. However it wasn’t but we didn’t find out until the next morning. It was okay for 1 night but i would choose somewhere else next time.

Hot and suffocating

Whilst the room was as expected from IBIS budget, small and functional, the heating/air-conditioning system was a disaster. As we learned, it is either a heater or an air-conditioner. We happened to stay on a warmer day and it was hot in the room. The system was still set to heating, so the only option was to open the window to cool down and make the room liveable for the night. Due to the rain and noise of traffic this was far from ideal. Upon requesting explanation from reception we were met with unfriendly behaviour. Although understandable that the reception had countless complaints that day, the lady should have remained professional. The next morning different people at reception were extremely friendly and understanding and explained that there is a well know issue with the heating/aircon system for years and that the owners of the hotel seem completely uninterested in resolving the issue despite that annual wave of complaints. We spoke to the manager later that day. He was super friendly and accommodating, but was in no position to resolve the issue. All in all a let down for IBIS and a reason that we didn't select another IBIS hotel for most of our journey from there on.

The location was good and it was great that there was a restaurant on site. However the room itself could have used some help. First of all I found it extremely dangerous that none of the windows had a screen. A small child could easily have fallen out of any of those windows. The mattress on both beds have definitely seen better days. They were so sunk in that it was not possible to get a good nights sleep. The bathroom needed a deeper cleaning and we were not allowed to turn on the AC in the room. It was only programmed to give off heat. Needless to say the room got stuff fast and with no screen on the window, all the bugs kept coming in. Unfortunately we did not have a good nights rest at this hotel!
