Dreadful service

Customer review rating 0.5/5

Daniel L. Families - Confirmed reviews ALL

This hotel has major management issues which in turn are leading to very poor service. The bar staff don’t stay behind the bar and when you wait for over 20 minutes for the receptionist to find said member and then give up you know there is a problem. This happened THREE times. At breakfast nobody greats you and no staff are visible. Literally anyone could walk in and nobody would know or care. When I asked to speak to a manager I was told they dont work weekends! Finally the restaurant is not open in the evening at all which makes you wonder why this is advertised as a four star hotel. I strongly suggest you go to this site to see just how poor service is. Won’t be using this site ever again and feel this was an expensive mistake to stay there.

Excellent stay - great location

We had three very enjoyable nights in Montpellier - this Mercure was ideally located for us, a ten minute easy walk into the city but with L'Arbre and Mahe restaurants plus chain riverside restaurants two minutes away The staff were very professional yet very friendly and helpful. The Hotel is spotlessly clean and very comfortable

Lovely service, such a comfortable stay; overall wonderful experience

I was so grateful to have such a comfortable stay at the Mercure Antigone. The front desk was so helpful in meeting all my needs from directions to laundry. Also, each day, my room was refreshed in such a thoughtful way as to enhance my stay. Business trips in foreign countries can be challenging and the staff at the Mercure Antigone made this one so easy and pleasant. Many, many thanks.

Comfortable well appointed bedroom, but un-inviting public areas. Better than average breakfast buffet with efficient breakfast staff. Dinner menu overpriced for what it is. Be wary on check out as the reception will take a pre-auth on your card prior to your stay which they then try to claim is a deposit and attempt to charge your card a second time for the full value of the stay rather than undertaking a completion on the pre-auth already taken - which is normal hospitality practice.

Needs renovation

The property really needs renovation. The smell is bad and the rooms need to be updated. However, the breakfast was excellent.

My extended stay was very nice. The guest service and team members made me feel at home away from home. The guest rooms are clean and comfortable. I repeat stay at this establishment every year.

The hotel is well situated, walking distance from the city centre and also close to major tram routes into the city, it is conveniently located for arriving by car from the autoroute. Generally the hotel looks a little worn out and dated, but it's clean, quiet and cool, with good WiFi.

A good Mercure on the edge of the city. Convenient location and very helpful staff. Decent plentiful breakfast. Safe secure parking in basement garage. The decor and rooms are a little tired hence the planned refurbishment- it needs it!

We stayed a long weekend at Mercure Centre Antigone , its a nice hotel with very friendly staff which gave us good directions for walking around in Montpeliier , we realy enjoyed their seafood buffet which is organized a couple of times a year. The rooms were nice maybe outdated but we had a good night sleep. Breakfast was great . And hotel is close to shopping centre and city center.

Not ideal for computer users

TripAdvisor rating 5.0/5

Kenneth S Solo travel - TripAdvisor review

The standard rooms in this hotel are computer UNFRIENDLY. There is a small very low round table, that is of limited use, and also a small apology for a desk at the side of the bed. However this desk(?!) is mostly occupied by the in-room tea and coffee making facilities. These can be moved, but then there is another problem. There is a FIXED light unit about 25% of the width from the left of the "desk", which makes 25% of the surface area unusable. There might still be just enough room for the computer, but you would have to use the keyboard pointing device, because there will be no room left to use a mouse, and none for other peripherals or anything else. In fairness to hotel management, they did solve the problem. They provide another small table which, when put at right angles to the "desk", provided enough space. I was able to put the small low circular table next to the additional table provided, and use it for my portable printer. This problem does not exist at either of the local Novotels, or at the Mercure Grande Motte, so if you need to use a lap top, it might be better to choose one of these, or if you still want to stay at the Mercure Antigon, then make your requirements known to hotel management in advance. I did not use the hotel restaurant for dinner on this visit. Hotel restaurant menus are frequently a bit restricted, and there was plenty of choice of restaurants nearby. Breakfast was up to Mercure's normal standards, except if you wanted white coffee. Normally, Mercure provide pots of coffee and pots of hot milk, and if you want white coffee, you can mix it to the strength you want. Here, if you wanted white coffee, it came from a machine, and for me, it was far too milky. The standard rooms are a bit smaller than I would expect from Mercure, but once the computer problem had been sorted, there was enough room for everything. Reception staff were very helpful, but they had some new employees who seemed to be very nervous and prone to make errors. The check out was not completely satisfactory. Although they charged the correct amount, I subsequently found that they had given me the wrong bill. The copy they gave me, was the preliminary bill, before adjustments. In addition, at the time of writing, I have still not received my Accor points for this stay, although I have received the points for a subsequent stay. So far, the hotel has not responded to my complaint about the missing points or my request for a copy of the correct bill.

Very convenient for a tourist visit.

We have stayed here several times over a period of years. For us the main good point is the proximity to the city centre and the underground car park. It's also easy to get to from the A9. The staff are very helpful and the breakfast worth the money. Lots of restaurants within easy walking distance. There is less traffic noise than could be expected from it's position. The rooms are looking in need of refurbishment though. We would be happy to visit again (and probably will).
