Check-in was ok, but unfortunately, the dining experiences fell short. For our first meal by the pool, the staff tried to charge me before the food even arrived. I can only assume this was because they knew the wait would be over an hour and feared I would cancel and go elsewhere. When the fried chicken and rice finally arrived, the ingredients were clearly of good quality, but the meal was cold. I should have taken this as a warning and avoided the restaurant that evening. Once again, all our food took an hour to arrive. The special fried rice and the children's pizza were both served cold. The pork chop and fries arrived 20 minutes after the rest of the meal, while it was warm and tasty, the meal pacing was completely off. Breakfast also needs improvement. The omelette station requires a hotter cooking plate to enable the chef to properly cook an omelette, rather than just scrambling the eggs at the end. Furthermore, both the pre-cooked fried eggs and scrambled eggs were cold. On a positive note, the chicken sausages were warm and tasted good. The artisan bread was also delicious, but there was no bread knife available for guests. You have to ask an assistant to take the bread to the kitchen to cut it, which adds another five minutes of waiting, though luckily, my food was already cold anyway. Based on these experiences, it is clear that staff training is urgently required. Management needs to implement proper supervision or, at the very least, strict quality inspections for food preparation and "kitchen-to-table" delivery times to ensure meals arrive hot and together. Despite the dining and service issues, I will say that we absolutely loved having access to the Macan Newtown beach club. My room albeit small was excellent.
