I booked this to end our vacation in the Algarve. Hotel advertises as 5 star but I would consider it a low 4 star, facility and service wise. Outside is impressive but not a welcoming or friendly atmosphere at reception or on front door. Facilities and services also not of 5 star service. Free Shuttle consists of 3 trips a day for 7 people which can only be booked on the day. Even when booked reception don’t suggest alternatives which are plentiful - Vilamoura is really close. Restaurant selection also extremely limited. Breakfast selection good but nothing special and over staffed leading to constant clearing of plates. Dinner is worse - ate at the in-house restaurant where choice of food was limited to fish or a small selection of other meals. Surroundings lovely and staff striving to make it a luxury experience but to the point of it being intimidating. Also off putting with new staff being trained but where supervising staff were scolding in front of customers. Rooms were spacious and clean, lovely views but showing age - wall paper peeling off walls and cigarette butts on balcony. I don’t want this to seem like a bad review as there is so much potential here. Pool restaurant staff were friendly and welcoming and seemed happy - if others had the same outlook it would make a big difference.
