Reception was a bit overwhelmed by the influx of visitors for the autumn festival, but the hotel is convenient to the station and walking distance to the charming old preserved area. The room was quiet and comfortable and the buffet breakfast was very good.

Our stay at the Mercure Takayama was one to remember. The staff were really welcoming. And gave good information to ensure we enjoyed our time in Takayama .It could not have been more convenient for us as we arrived by bus. The Mercure is a short walk. We were very concerned about our room facing the railway directly. There was some train noise but we coped with the occasional disturbance. If we booked again we would request that our room did not face the train line. The old town is easily walkable from the hotel. One could use the Māori local bus if needed to venture further. The facilities were exceptional. The room was spotless and spacious. The use of the onsen was a bonus. We did book the couple onsen. Again a fantastic experience. So relaxing. The breakfast was fresh and delicious with a wide ranging buffet for all tastes. We would highly recommend this hotel for a stay in Takayama.
