We were extremely disappointed with our stay, especially considering the price and the standard we expected from this hotel.
We were only able to check in after 3pm and, while waiting, we were not offered a welcome drink or even a cloth to freshen our hands. We ordered a coffee and waited over an hour because there was apparently no milk available. There was also no coffee provided in our room, and the air-conditioning did not work properly.
Unfortunately, the cleanliness was also not up to standard. Our room and bathroom were not cleaned particularly well, and when we went out and bought our own coffee, it was removed from the room. The hotel itself had a strange smell, and there were noticeable stains on the floors on the third floor. The shampoo and body were empty and never filled.
More concerning was the condition of the outside deck. Parts of it were damaged and felt unsafe, and the tiles were extremely slippery with no warning signs. I actually slipped and hurt my back, which was very upsetting and could easily have been avoided.
We decided to eat at the hotel one evening and asked if the chef could prepare a lasagna, as per the menu we were issued, but were told that we should rather order it through room service, which we found very strange.
Overall, the experience simply did not match the price or our expectations. There were too many small issues, together with some more serious concerns around cleanliness and safety, for us to recommend the hotel based on our stay.

I had issues with my access door, it was not able to lock it. So I had to spend the night with a chair against the door. It took 12 hours to troubleshoot, and it only happened when I went to reception with my luggage asking for another room.

There was no spa available, bath was dirty and the tap was broken. No non alcohol free beer's or wines available in hotel and had to go to Grove to purchase our own.
We were looking for somewhere to hold our wedding for 300+ guests and accommodation with a spa being one of the requirements.

It took over an hour for us to get access to our room. The door to our room still needed attention. I was in desperate need for a shower so I asked if I could just quickly have a shower whilst we waited for someone to come back to finish fixing the front door, which is round the corner from the main bed area. I was hiding around the corner getting ready to put my clothes on when one of the handymen come confidently bounding into the room to use one of the sofas/tables to put some of his tools down. I think it's fair to say that I was relatively unimpressed when I stood there face-to-face with one of the handymen in nothing more than my boxer shorts.
The shower also lacked any power and the hot water came and went unexpectedly resulting in a terrible shower experience.
The aircon also didn't work properly and kept turning itself off. This meant that we spent the night in a mostly muggy room and both had an awful night's sleep because we kept waking up from either being too cold or too warm.
All-in-all, it was exactly the sort of experience that we do not expect from Movenpick. It's why we come to you guys. To get away from all the average experiences elsewhere in Windhoek and rather pay a small premium to have a better overall experience.

Great service, brilliant venue. I did not receive my luggage at the airport for 2 days (another colleague for 3 days)- and despite of requesting for a basic essentials kit (dental, hygiene etc) at the Movenpick hotel reception, we were informed this was out of stock and not provided.

The stay was lovely, and overall, the service was good. However, on Thursday morning, a lady knocked on my door and stated that she wanted to confirm whether anyone was occupying the room, as the system reflected that the room was vacant.
I found the enquiry rather concerning, as I had checked in the previous evening, and it was unclear why the room would still reflect as unoccupied on the system. The lady appeared to be wearing a uniform, although it was partly covered by a private jersey, and she did not have an identity card visible.
I would therefore like to suggest that, apart from housekeeping staff, any staff member approaching guests’ rooms should be clearly identifiable by means of an identity card and full corporate uniform. This would help ensure guests feel safe and confident when engaging with staff.
Other than this incident, the service was good.
