On a business trip to the UK, Midlands and London, provided the ideal opportunity to sample the different Accor hotels in the UK, similar to the last trip 3 months ago to Paris, trying a coupe of the hotel’s brands (Ibis and Mercure) in the same tier group there. The distinguishing features between the hotel’s brands were less defined and inconsistent, similarly with the facilities and provisions, unlike in the Asia Pacific; at noted overlaps as well and in some cases the lower tier establishment have more or better facilities than the next level hotel. These stays were of overnight durations, excepting for the London Heathrow location, used as a base and for 3 nights. For my bookings in the Spring & Summer, the hotels tariffs vary day to day, sometimes 50-100%. This hotel is a free standing, 4-storey building at a crossroad junction with a main road with large outdoor space for onsite parking with a smaller area undercover, all payable. There are a few spaces at the front of the hotel dedicated to EV charging. Across the junction are shops with businesses from fast food, convenience stores and small local offices. There is a small Lidl supermarket. Entering the hotel, it is an open plan set up with reception and lifts to the left and the bar with interior seating, round the bar is the restaurant area. Both the bar and restaurant have access to an open-air patio seating area. Though they display the Accor Member sign it doesn’t mean anything; you still wait in line to be checked in, even as an elite status member. Room pretty standard, didn’t appear to have been upgraded, perhaps full booking or only have one room type. Room appointments pretty basic, though have an in-room safe. There is an electric jug and tea and coffee making facilities, but not drinking water and no bar refrigerator. Lighting was average, not bright but not dim. Bed was acceptable for a reasonable rest, helped by the room being air-conditioned. Bathroom appointments basic with towels but no toiletries: the sink had a 6-inch crack running up from the drain. As an Accor member welcome drink was provided but no welcome amenity. The paid breakfast was pretty average, with cereals, breads and pastry, fruit juice, fruit salad and some cold cuts. Hot items were, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages, baked beans, grilled tomatoes, hash brown and mushroom, the taste of these were acceptable. Check out was fast, as an Accor member with registered fast check out. Overall average, staff professional and helpful, but debatable if hotel it is up to Mercure standard, but condition at a stage that some renovation is needed.

Great bar staff but small rooms

There hotel was okay but the room was very small and my previous emails to the hotel had not been actioned resulting in our room reservation change not being made however I gave it an extra star because the staff in the bar/restaurant AJ, Tiber and John were great!

Think again if you have mobility issues.

William J Families - TripAdvisor review

This is a beautiful victorian 1822 building, strange decor black, purple, grey effective but strange. The room was well appointed and big enough to cotend with the wife's mobility stroller. Clean. The bathroom was shower only as requested (no handrails), and we should have requested a shower mat. Tea/coffee facilities, TV, WiFi. The fly in the ointment is the lift. It does Not stop at the first floor. The brazerie/restaurant is ON the first floor, and if you need to access the restaurant, you have to go to the ground floor and use the staircase. If you have mobility issues, this is a serious problem. The handrail is only on one side, and where the staircase turns, the steps are sharply angled with narrow tread. Not fit for purpose By all accounts been like this for some time. £125.00 (Inc breakfast) Graduation week for 1 night. Ear plugs on bedside cabinet.

Our good stay was somewhat spoilt as our son (Chris Stamp)and family received parking fines. They were meeting up with us for your hotel breakfasts - it was a complete oversight , excited grand kids. Your hotel is ideally located for us to visit family in Sherwood. Chris's partner Gemma Morris is a member of your health club. I would be grateful if this matter could be looked at ?

Love this place

This hotel couldn't of been any better the receptionists (Andrea, Amani and Lewis) are fantastic very welcoming they give you all the information you need to have a nice stay and ALWAYS have a smile for anyone no matter what kind of day theu are having. And the bar staff (Mykhailo, Rita, Katrina, Karolina, AJ and Tib are very friendly and are great at entertaining. Mykhailo and Rita make really nice cocktails the food is nice but little to much for me to eat it all. The rooms are comfortable and very clean the house keeping doing a fantastic job there are to many to name which I wish I could name them all I didn't realise how hard there job was untill I done my own room as I was there for a while and just doing mine was very hard and they do loads of rooms within hours and always do a good job WELL DONE HOUSE KEEPING I salute you all. And again wish I could name all the managers and supervisors as they was all so nice and if I had anything wrong they would always try and make sure it got sorted. Leisure was OK the pool could do with it being retiled but that isn't down to the hotel neither is the steam room not working. Overall I am gonna miss everyone that works there as they made my stay alot better than it should of been I will be going back, and I'd like to just say a BIG THANK YOU TO ALL STAFF for what they have done for me during my stay if it wasn't for all of them I don't think I would of be able to cope with having to stay there as long as I had to. GONNA MISS YOU ALL XXX
