On check in I was asked to provide evidence that I was an essential worker. Unfortunately, I didn't have any relevant documentation proving I work in education. If I had been informed prior to this when booking I would have made sure that I had the relevant documentation with me. It did seem rather odd that two colleagues of mine, who both work at the same college, checked in 20 minutes before me and neither of them were asked for proof of work.

The hotel is definitely taking precautions with Covid and is a very safe place to stay in this regard. The restaurant was very quiet but we enjoyed our dinner and the bar/restaurant staff were outstanding.

Very empty hotel due to COVID. Room 366...the room was cold on arrival and the heating did not work but oil filled radiators were bought to the room which did the trick as we were not prepared to move, but there was one already in the room which probably told the story! No caps on the shower controls so it took a while to work it out, large amount of dust in the bathroom, needed sweeping! But good sides...the room was large and comfortable, we were the only people in the bar and the reception was also empty. Staff were lovely and couldn’t do enough for us. Pleasant stay and covid aware.

From the moment I stepped in the hotel, the receptionist was really friendly and looked like she knew who I am. From breakfast John was absolutely wonderful. He made our experience so beautiful. Breakfast was good. A disclaimer about the shower. Is not easy to clean properly with the rain shower. I want to suggest the normal shower.

Claustrophobic room

Anonymous Couples - 04/10/2020 Confirmed reviews ALL

The double room which we stayed in was extremely small and there was no room to move around or put luggage down or store suitcases. There was no telephone in the bedroom so it was difficult to all the taxis. Due to Covid safety precautions, the restaurant and room service finished between 9 and 930pm which was very early. There was no opportunity of a late evening snack or drink Due to Covid safety precautions, the swimmingpool and the gym and exercise facilities was closed. On the positive side, there was free parking and the shower was very nice with plenty of hot water, although the bathroom was also very small. The reception and bar staff were excellent and their attitude and service in what are obviously difficult circumstances, was admirable. Due to all of these things my wife and I would sadly not return to this hotel.

Room was fine, comfortable and clean, booked specifically as early breakfast options were available. However breakfast was poor. and required boiling water so not exactly able to take away and eat on the go! No pool facilities which was again one of the only other reasons I booked two nights so I could enjoy the pool on the Monday. As this wasn't available I didn't stay on Sunday night and was rejected a refund of the second night or even a voucher for a stay another time. So overall pretty underwhelming experience. Finally air conditioning unit was particularly noisy and there was a disturbance at 530-6am in the morning (some guy screaming and shouting) I understand this is completely out of the control of the hotel but it seemed to take far to long to deal with, i.e. getting the police called to deal with the out of control person!

The staff were very friendly and helpful, but my bed sheets were were not clean and I was itching when I was in the bed and had a very disturbing night . Next day I made a complaint at desk and the gentleman got onto it with house cleaner and they had changed my bed linen. I had visit the Doctor because I was itching and burning all over my body.

Nothing worked. Claustrophobic rooms.

Confirmed NHS discount beforehand with Accor but on check-in was doubted and made to pre-authorise the full amount. Requested a quiet room on my booking request, but was placed on the first floor facing a very busy main road with traffics noise. No chair in this room and surprised at how small it was. On asking, was then moved to a higher floor and quieter room. The AC had cold air and was extremely noisy. I took the key out of the slot yet the entire night it still made very loud sounds. I slept maybe 2 hours and was freezing, went into work cold and very tired. They tried to fix the AC - still blowing cold air. Noise improved then rattling started up again. Second night was the same - cold and sleepless. For the third night they finally moved me to a better room and the night was uneventful. Overall - very small claustrophobic rooms where many things were worn down or did not work. Size of rooms not advertised on Accor website. Request for quiet room and NHS discount not honoured at check-in. Spent two out of three nights cold and sleepless before finally being moved. I was planning on staying here during weekdays for the next year for work, but it was a stressful and unpleasant stay and I would rather stay elsewhere.

I was a "walk-in" booking after six hours of driving. Reserving and checking into a room, at an excellent price, couldn't have been easier: quick, efficient, friendly. And the provision of a tasty breakfast the following morning, after a much needed-sleep on a very comfortable bed, was most welcome. I've stayed in several Mecure hotels in France and the UK. The Mecure Nottingham is the best so far.

Lovely accommodation, breakfast extremely poor

Sharon Families - 29/08/2020 Confirmed reviews ALL

The pre ordered breakfast that we paid for on booking, let down the overall score for our stay. We were asked to choose between a sausage and egg sandwich or continental breakfast of croissant and pain au chocolat. The ‘cooked’ option by which I mean, bought in frozen and reheated (one and a half) sausage and (mini omelette) egg baguette had a tomato chutney running through it, yet no mention of it in description. I do not like tomatoes so did not eat it. Mentioned at the time, and the poor guy who had just been bought back from furlough tried his best to help, though without a chef onsite until midday, he couldn’t find a baguette without tomato on it. The continental option was mini versions of croissant and pain au choc - not sufficient for an adult! Our stay was for 2 nights so after sharing dissatisfaction with Lukas on reception, he spoke with the manager (who would not speak to us directly) and we were informed they would refund the second days breakfast. They initially refused to refund the first day because we had eaten it, I quite clearly had not! It was only after persistence that I was informed we would be refunded for the first day too. Time will tell, if it appears in my account. The accommodation itself was lovely, we had a suite and it was clean, spacious and smelled lovely. There were obviously homeless people being accommodated in the hotel with workers responsible for them present in the lobby at all time’s. I commend the hotel for supporting people in need and the workers for conducting themselves professionally.

Overall good. Room size and bed size good. Bedside spotlight reading light excellent. Best I have ever experienced. TV and furnishing good. Air conditioning explanation on wall in small print difficult to understand. Suggest a separate sheet with larger print. Room 118 noisy with machines starting and stopping during the night made sleeping difficult. Choose a quieter room next time. En suite shower needs safety mat to avoid risk of slipping..

Positives: Rooms clean and modern. Lots of parking. Negatives: very noisy if you're on main road, hotel didn't have many guests why put any on the main road side? Saturday night guests very loud. Door closers on bedrooms don't work so slam everytime someone comes in. Had two different rooms neither had working air conditioning.

Never again

It is not an experience we would like to repeat. There were 6 problems. 1) The room was spartan, no wardrobe/closet just a hanging rail. No drawers for clothes, underwear etc. 2) Broken chair, leg collapsed - dangerous 3) Temperature control not working - known to management as there was a plug in electric radiator in the room. No good for a hot August night - a fan would be more appropriate. 4) Dreadful humming noise, intermittent, all night, presumably from the vast array of units housed on a low roof alongside our bedroom window. We think it would have been more sustainable if it had hummed all night rather than on and off ! 5) No electric socket near kettle station so had to plug in next to bed. 6) Three teabags for the morning. One each of camomile, green tea and English breakfast tea. We do not drink camomile or green so had to toss for the normal tea. Hubby got the tea I had to make do with water.
