The airconditioner unit kept coming on and the panel could not be activated to turn it off. It was cold and noisy. At 1:30am I requested the staff at the desk to assist. The assistant was able to activate the panel using a pen to push the buttons. However, even after this it kept randomly turning back on. Little rest as a consequence.

The room we had was small and at night there was a lot of road noise and also light pollution from outside. Better soundproofing and blackout curtains would have been a good help. Location ok. Did not eat in the hotel

From parking in the free carpark we were well looked after and the reception staff were friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. The room was immaculate and we felt very comfortable using the facilities within the hotel.

On our way to the hotel I was telephoned but as we were driving I couldnt hear the conversation. On arrival reception staff informed us that the suite we had booked was unavailable for the 2 nights. This was a little suprising as I had made the booking at the beginning of June. We were offered a king size room and £100 bar/restaurant credit instantly to make up for the inconvenience. We were not too put out by this but if it had been booked for a special occasion treat that would have been a different matter. The room was a little oddly designed. The kettle and coffee machine were no where near a plug socket. There was no fridge theres a cupboard for it though. Theres no bathtub but a big shower. All the staff we encoutered were friendly and professional. Decent breakfast and enough staff to run the dining room effectively eg quickly refilling buffet, collect spent plates and clearing tables. Great stay, we would come again.

On arrival, the first room that I was allocated had non-functional electrics - nothing happened when I put the door card into the slot to turn the lights on. I was moved to another room which smelled of sweat. There were no coat hangers on the rail. The curtains were half hanging off of the curtain rail. I opened the window for fresh air and went for a meal. I returned and had to shut the window as a car alarm was going off. I tried to turn the air conditioner on but that was not working - error E04. Not exactly good value for £90 a night, I think.

Good location however shower very poor in room and not really value for money.

Myself and my son stayed at the Mercure Sherwood the night before my wedding as we wanted a bit of luxury to relax. When we came to check in (which was already later than the 'recommended time', the queue was long as there were only 2 reception staff and one laptop to serve the number of guests trying to check in. The check-in process itself was simple enough and the staff member was friendly so no issue there. We got up to the room to find that we had a double room (2 single beds put together as one large double) which wasn't what we had requested and had previously confirmed by email that we were going to have a twin room. I went back downstairs to speak with reception but the line had gotten longer, so I retreated back to the room for a short while and returned later. There, I spoke with the manageress who apologised and checked whether any twin rooms were available, but there weren't. It wasn't too much of an issue since I was with my son but if I had been travelling with anyone else, it may have been! The manageress gave us 2 complementary drinks as an apology, which was lovely as a small gesture of goodwill. The room itself was clean and the bed was extremely comfy. There was no noise apart from some traffic outside but that died down as the night wore on and started up when we awoke in the morning. My only gripes with the room was the very confusing air con system which we couldn't work out, even with the instructions nearby and the tv had a tendency not to turn off! Nothing to do with the remote, it needed to be turned off at the back of the set which was very inconvenient as it is hung on the wall! Breakfast was great and really set us up for the day. We had asked for a late check-out of no later than 2pm which was confirmed twice, both over the phone and by email but we still had housekeeping knocking on the door asking when we were leaving twice even though we said we had booked a late check-out and it was for a wedding! I even had my make-up artist and hairdresser in the room with me at that point so I'm not sure what the problem was! Overall, we did enjoy our stay at the Mercure but it was just minor problems that peppered the stay. The staff were great and did what they could but as a previous member of Accor staff myself, I couldn't help but think they needed 'more hands on deck' to help guests get the experience they'd booked for.

Had a fabulous overnight stay at this well located hotel.

Check in was quick and efficient. The free parking is a bonus. Room was compact, but has everything you need. The location is good, around a 20min walk into town. We enjoyed the use of pool/sauna area. Wouldn't hesitate to return to this hotel.

Staff were fantastic but room standards not up to par had to be moved rooms twice due to 1st room door lock hanging off 2nd room put right next to elevator and the noise was horrendous 3rd room shower tray filled right up in shower causing overflowing onto floor and curtains hanging off rail breakfast was cold and waited ages for fresh stuff which wasn't much better

Family trip so hotel selected because of location close to family and friends. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only downside was the room was a little small. Not sure how they got s double bed in there but not much room left for storing clothes.

On arrival greeted by friendly staff. Problems started once we got to the room, Air con not working, faulty light in the bathroom and TV remote missing. on the Monday we found out that part of the hotel was being used as a court house, came down to breakfast to find prison guards and security everywhere not exactly a pleasant experience for a holiday. The room faults did eventually get fixed but it took a couple of reminders to actually get what should have been simple fixes sorted. The saving grace was the staff in the hotel who were friendly and did their very best to make the experience as pleasant as possible.

I stayed for one night. Check in was fine, though with only one lift working it was not ideal for social distancing to get to the third floor room allocated. The room was prepared for me, but the corners had not been attended to. As a mild arachnophobe I noted two spiders, and when I walked on the carpet barefoot I had significant fluff on my feet. The wardrobe space was minimal. The shower was interesting, I turned the controls, and it was a significant delay before the water was delivered from the showerhead. Breakfast was generous.

A fake-friendly reception man. The hotel facilities very good and the breakfast was wonderful, excellent and the restaurant staff was well. but unfortunately our experience was not the best because I paid extra money to make my departure from the hotel at 6 pm, we chose this hotel because it had a pool. Well, when we arrived at the hotel around 5 pm my children were excited to go to the pool and the man at the reception very smiling did not let us go because they were already closing, to our surprise we went around 5:30 to make a tour of the hotel (which by the way is big and beautiful), we saw that the pool was open and there were people, we quickly went to the reception saying that there were people and he repeated that no, we had to wait the next morning for 7 am. The next morning, I went to the pool with my children, and when I came back to my room it was locked, I had to go in a towel twice to the reception to solve the problem since the first time I went, the key that he gave me did not work and on top of that I had to wait in a towel in the middle of the reception because He took a long time to attend to me. I went back up to my room and my key didn’t work again! Then the same man at the reception called me to the room around 2 pm to ask me to check out of the hotel as soon as possible, I explained to him that I had paid extra to leave the hotel at 6 pm, then He apologised but He wondered if I could give Him an approximate hour because they needed the room, I told Him that maybe around 4 o'clock we would leave but to top it off the man knocked again at 4 (only once) and I did not open immediately because I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth and soon later, the children came to me to tell me that a man was in our room, The man from reception opened with his own master key, my daughter was scared and on the point on tears because she thought he was a “bad guy” and was going to hurt us. I myself was also scared and my other children were uneasy. This scandalous act of breaking into my room was an invasion of privacy. I have to mention that I was traveling with my 2 children of 11 and 8 years old and my 13-year-old niece. I was the only adult so he could’ve done anything to us. Then the man , smiling, apologizing for having entered the room asked again what time I was leaving, He was trying to kick us out, stressed the children and I, harassed me to leave the hotel although knowing that I had paid extra money to be able to stay in the hotel longer but he entered, without authorisation, to my room. This was abuse of authority and I am shocked of this shameless act. The same man asked me the same question about what time I was going to make my exit. 1. when I checked in, 2. when I came up from the pool, 3. when he called me on the phone, and 4. when he came into my room. since I made the reservation at the hotel I added this charge to my account to be more relaxed there and have more time to relax with the children from a long trip I was doing with them and the only thing that that reception man did was harass us to leave the hotel, giving us fear and embittering the afternoon.

Poor experience due to a number of issues, all pointing to a lack of staff. E.g. shower in ensuite overflowed due to drain being dirty, lost cold water in room on second day of stay causing my wife to burn her hand, poor service at bar and restaurant (e.g. my wife went without dinner), no towels at the pool, etc. Will definitely not return and will avoid this chain in the future.

The hotel has a veneer of luxury, but scratch beneath the surface and it is really not good. The window in my room looked like it had never been cleaned and the air conditioning didn’t work. The lifts appear to be those installed when the building was built. Saying they are slow is an understatement and one was out of order. The dining area is very dated and needs rebuilding.

Excellent facilities, really fantastic staff, we enjoyed our stay, thankyou!!

The only reason I have given a 4* review and not a 5* is because the hotel has very recently been taken on by a different chain and completely refurbished so consequently there are still a few small issues to be ironed out. However to be fair, the transition must have been a major challenge due to the COVID pandemic so it is actually a credit to Garin (the GM) and his team that they are where they are! We were a big group, some of the girls had issues with their rooms (and some were not really the fault of the hotel), but I was very impressed with the level of customer service as all the staff and Garin listened to, and tried very hard to resolve all our issues. In fact I would say they went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay. For example they even arranged extra staff cover (which must have not have been easy) so we could use the leisure facilities as a group after the time they were normally closed. Another staff member (Madu) should be mentioned as she was fantastic and a credit to the company, especially taking given the long hours she appeared to be working. We will definitely return the next time we are playing hockey in Nottingham and I would recommend to my fellow hockey players as it is nice to have somewhere with leisure facilities after a hard game!

We booked a privilege room and were promised on the bookings.com page access to a spa with treatments, towel robes and much more. We did not have any of that. We specifically paid extra for a privilege room but the quality was awful. Tiny bathroom, no bath robes (which were mentioned), dirty coffee mugs that were not cleaned and had old coffee stains on them, no wardrobe in the room. Really disappointed in the stay.
