On arrival to be told the gym and pool was closed was annoying, I would have stayed elsewhere had i known this and it is not mentioned anywhere. The room was good, a bit tired but comfortable bed, 2 disposable cups on the fridge, one was empty but used for coffee, the other had, what use to be mik I think in it, day two, the cleaners left a dirty cloth on the table, not good at anytime but in Corona time, its actually appalling, I noticed most of the local area were ignoring the mask rules, no wonder the area is a high risk on the gov track and trace app. I was hosting the certsure fire alarm course for that week, the venue was good, social distancing not a problem, the staff great, especially the chef, the lunch was really good, nice variety and excellently packaged.

Fine for one night

We stayed for one night in room 316, a twin Classic room. We had requested a single room and this was honoured. The refurbishment of the public areas is good, but our room had some problems. There was a flickering spotlight over the bath and the air conditioning didn't work. It came on for 30 seconds or so and then displayed an error message. These were not serious enough for us to change our room and we reported them on check out when the receptionist made a note for maintenance. The bedroom itself was fine for one night, and the beds very comfortable, but the design of the bathroom could do with a rethink as there were several problems. The shower is a detachable, hand held, one and it was a minor irritant that it kept swivelling to face the wall. The placement of the shower screen, however, just seemed plain daft. It was about half the length of the bath and was restricted to a total of 3 inches movement as it was blocked on one side by the wash basin and on the other by the handle on the side of the bath. This meant that not only was it not possible to reach the taps and the plug without standing in the bath, but also that there was only about 18 inches of space to get into the bath. I know the bathroom is small, but surely a better solution could be found? What made the stay was the friendliness and efficiency of the staff, who coped excellently with the COVID-19 restrictions. Dinner and breakfast were both served promptly and were well cooked, even though the arrabbiata sauce on my penne pasta brought tears to my eyes as it was so spicy. The hotel was very clean throughout, had extensive parking, and was ideally situated just off the M5.

I have to say for the location and the price this was a really pleasant stay for me. I was in Birmingham for the weekend and didn't want to sleep on a sofa for a second night. The staff were extremely polite and efficient. I will definitely stay here again. Well done guys. OH AND THE BREAKFAST WAS SUPERB

Good nights sleep and welcoming friendly staff. Unfortunately had to be moved room due to air con being broken upset at being placed there as staff were already aware of the problem! inconvenience to me as I had already unpacked and showered before realised it wasn't working & No phone in room due to COVID so had to go to reception from 4th Floor to report! Not so good

All good apart from the bill. My last 4 visits to the hotel have resulted in invoices being issues at higher rates than quoted on booking the rooms. It is being sorted out....hopefully.

I stayed for 4 nights. On one of the days the room had not been cleaned throughly and dirty glasses had been left in the room and the window had been left wide open with my personal belongings inside. There was no safe in the room and when i ask as soon as i checked in i was told the room was still under refurbishemnt however when i asked later on in the week i was told this wasnt the case. The small mirror in the bathroom was broken/missing the tilles in the shower were falling apart When i first raised my concerns, the staff dealing with it was defensive and unhelpful. I ordered room service one night and when it came the wine has spilled all over my food and the person dropping the food off just left it with me and only said sorry, i had to call up and ask that it be changed I was told there would be a discount when booking as i was there on a business course however the discount amounted to 30 pounds over the rate when booking online
