An excellent 2-bed top floor suite was assigned. Common areas and suite were dated with most funishings looking worn. The scaffolding covering the entire front of the hotel was unsightly. Staff availability was spotty, some were personable and helpful while others were indifferent.

Dear Grant K., Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay. We appreciate your comments on our location and suite quality. However, we acknowledge your concerns about the condition of some areas and staff consistency, which we will take into consideration for future improvements. Goodbye, Peppers Beacon Queenstown

If Health authorities visit Peppers Beacon Queenstown in its current state it will likely be shut down. If we could have scored it zero we would have. Management have been receiving shocking reviews for months and responding with templated, patronising responses. We booked in April. We received email advice three days prior to arrival that we had scaffolding between us and our view. You offered to refund half the rental. This was to compensate for the obscured view. You also offered us free parking...incredible that it was not part of the deal given the nightly rate. Both offers were accepted as it was too late to book elsewhere and we were already in excellent accommodation at the Accor Pullman in Auckland. We arrived to find a lack of security on underground carpark and lifts, run down condition of our apartment (#306) with water damage to timber, broken ensuite door, holes in walls and filth including mould in showers, on kitchen blinds and slimy mould covering the kitchen windowsill, caked dirt on the dining room table, caked dirt and hair in corners in both bathrooms, layered dust under beds ad nauseam. Furniture was dated and stained and in need of replacement. Heavy drapes were torn and stank of mildew. Kitchen utensils were cheap and past useby date. Likewise cutlery, crockery and glassware...all required scrubbing clean before we could use same. We visited the Manager at the front desk and complained. We received a sort of apology with an excuse that the rundown condition was up to individual owners to fix. She agreed to send up cleaning and maintenance staff. We returned to the room and at this stage discovered the slimy mould on the kitchen windowsill. We rang through and demanded that the Manager come and see for herself. She arrived with a cleaning team and maintenance and agreed that it was not up to standard, offering us a different unit. We declined, given that we had unpacked our belongings and a big shop and didn't want the inconvenience of having to repack and again unpack. Cleaners did a reasonable job but still missed a few areas. Maintenance advised that there was a part missing on the sliding door that would have to be purchased. It was now late Thursday afternoon, so we would be unable to use the ensuite shower until repaired due to signs about closing doors to stop steam setting off fire alarms. The door remained broken until our departure the following Monday. We had been told about the scaffolding but had not been advised that balconies were locked off as a safety measure. In any event the balcony was filthy, as was the outdoor furniture with black dirt in abundance along with what appeared to be animal faeces on the trestle outside the loungeroom window. I have never stayed at anything like this place. It throws the Peppers and Accor brands in the toilet. Close it down until it is in the state that a $1,000 per night unit should be. Send in a new management team to fix it...we have nil confidence in the current one. I note that the half refund has been made. On the basis of what I have described I would expect a full refund, please. If it wasn't for the multitude of excellent experiences we have had with Accor we would never be back to one of your establishments. This was SO different.
