Mantra Esplanade is perfectly situated in the heart of the city, just a short walk from the Reef Terminal and the vibrant Cairns waterfront dining scene. For those looking to swim, the public Esplanade Lagoon is only a five-minute stroll away. You truly couldn’t ask for a more ideal location. The service was a highlight; the staff were incredibly polite and went out of their way to accommodate an early check-in. As an ALL - Accor Live Limitless member, I was pleased to see all benefits and upgrades honored, which added significant value to the stay. We stayed in a one-bedroom apartment that felt like a home away from home, fully equipped with all the necessary amenities. It is worth noting that full housekeeping is only provided once a week; however, the staff are happy to provide fresh towels or other essentials at reception upon request. While there is no on-site restaurant, the hotel features a good-sized swimming pool, and the proximity to local eateries makes dining out effortless.

Stayed for 5 nights this week. Was slightly concerned with previous reviews. We were very happy with the hotel. Location is amazing, rooms good size and great kitchen facilities. Beds comfy. Staff very good. Pool needs a bit of a tidy up (leaves etc spoil it's image and the foliage needs cutting back) gym was ok. Would definitely stay again. Location is the best feature along with excellent value for money.

Pretty solid venue that has been tidied up

Second stay at the property and starting to quite like it. Brilliantly located right on the seafront and easy walking distance to everywhere. Rear exit also goes past a pretty little museum area that is lit at night. Believe the rooms have had some TLC in the last 18 months since our last visit and new carpet fitted maybe? Still the 80s style 'in-the-bath' shower but bathrooms clean and functional. Hotel options sparse and a tad binary - OK and very not OK - in Cairns but Esplanade is overall value-for-money. Amusing to see that some of the rooms have very long-term residents in - they do monthly or longer rentals - with small plantations on the balconies. Reception staff friendy but not a full-service venue.

Friendly front desk, Greta location - but awful room

The front staff was amazing at this hotel. Very hospitable and helpful. The location is fantastic, too- especially if you are taking a snorkel or dive tour. Honestly, that’s where the kudos stop. The rooms are extremely basic, the mattress feels like it is 100 years old. I’m not even particularly picky about mattresses… But with theirs, you can actually feel the springs coming through. The towels are threadbare and there are no washcloths. The worst part of all is that the room smelled like Thai food in the afternoon and garlic bread in the evening. There must be some sort of air-conditioning/exhaust issue where smells from the restaurants on the first floor are being sucked into it. It really stinks. It made sick to my stomach and I worried about it making my clothes smell. I hated my stay.l and would not recommend this hotel.

I stay in around 160 hotel nights a year and Mantra Esplanade Cairns has to be my most frustrating experience in the last 160. So many issue - too many to write about - but despite six requests to speak to duty manager this, or these, people never responded. As a platinum Accor I found this disappointing. When I requested receipt at checkout I was advised not possible but eventually sent a receipt for a stay five years earlier …. Enough said! Enormous effort to get receipt. Terrible service overall. Reasonable location. Hotel noisy.
