Once again we really enjoyed our stay at Breakfree. Valter, Sophie and the rest of the staff are always friendly and helpful. When the hairdryer was found to be faulty Sophie had it replaced within a couple of hours. We arrived after an early flight and Valter, after checking the room had been cleaned, let us in early. We stayed in a recently upgraded room which had been freshly painted and a new TV had been installed. The room was bright and had an exceptional view over Trinity Inlet. We stayed for a fortnight. and made good use of the washing machine, stove top ( tricky to use) and the BBQ in the beautiful gardens! The bed was comfortable but the furniture could be upgraded. Breakfree's location is excellent being directly above the Cairns Night Markets and next to the wonderful Rattle and Hum Hotel. Of course that does mean that it can get noisy and there is associated noises from various businesses but that's to be expected and the double glazed sliding doors worked a treat. It's directly across from the Cairns lagoon and close to everywhere you need in Cairns. We really loved our stay!

This was a return visit to Royal Harbour for us. Last year our room was really good, but this year it was a little disappointing. Only one of the two hotplates worked, cleanliness was not up to standard, furniture was a little tired and we had to use a bowl from the kitchen in the bathroom as the sink did not allow for a plug. On the plus side though, the location was excellent overlooking all the action on the esplanade.

Disappointing not happy. For our 54th Wedding Anniversary I wanted to treat my wife to a lovely holiday in Cairns. I booked our accommodation through Qantas Hotels at Break Free Royal Harbour Cairns a 4-Star Hotel for seven nights from the 13th of August to 20th August 2024.I booked a One Bedroom Garden apartment I could either pay $1,882 that is $269 a night or used my Frequent flyer points at 211,710 points. I can only comment on the apartment we stayed in at Brake Free Royal Harbour Room 606 I booked a One Bedroom Garden apartment we did not get what we paid for, we got a studio apartment the bed was in a windowless alcove and open to the kitchen and lounge room. The small TV mounted on the lounge room wall was ancient and barely watchable you could not adjust the angle to watch from the bedroom. The spa bath was deep with a Fixed showerhead that was lose and you could not adjust it. It was extremely difficult to get into and very slippery once in there was only one small handrail too low to help when standing in the bath. An accident waiting to happen. Not suitable or safe for anybody especially for elderly or mobility impaired people. The bathroom cleanliness could be improved every morning there were ants all over the sink. The kitchen was ok, but the floor was not clean very sticky. The lounge room furniture was old and uncomfortable, and the single couch was dirty and disgusting photo attach. Room 606 is located on the north side of the hotel, next door there is a few restaurants with noisy generator and exhaust vents running countless hours day and night. We were not given details to be able to access the internet. No access to Fitness centre lock access key did not work. As we had an early flight I asked if the Taxi Bulter was accessible after hours and was told yes. When we check out the Taxi Butler was behind the secure screen no access. We had an extremely disappointing experience at Break Free Royal Harbor Cairns. We would certainly never stay there again, even if we were offered a week’s free accommodation. To the Owners and Managers shame on you. Our room not 4-star only 2-star.

The one star is for the perfect location of this property. Close to The Esplanade,restaurants,shops and the waterfront. Unfortunately there are no more positives.The floors of our apartment were absolutely filthy. The washing machine smelt.On the second day of our stay my husband accidentally kicked the cover of the bathroom drain and it fell down the actual drain. When we reported this the woman on reception said there is no maintenance at the premises and so the cover stayed in the drain leaving a hole.One morning we came down in the lift and were welcomed by a tirade from the cleaner as she’d just mopped the floor.Could add more but will just say we don’t recommend this property.

We stayed for 8 days, and the location was great. So close to everything, we were able to walk most places. Be aware when the staff tell you that Woolies is just a block away it is because you will need to buy all your supplies. There is no servicing of apartments for a week stay so you will need to go and buy washing liquid, washing powder, bin liners, toilet paper, clothes pegs etc for your stay. I washed our towels in the washing machine there, so we had some fresh towels. Internet is also only for Accor members. The floors weren't particularly clean either. The kids thought the shower positioning was quite interesting. We love Cairns and had great fun at Green Island and Moore Reef, loved Kuranda and Hartleys Crocodile Adventure Park.
