The staff were unfailingly polite, but this felt more like a backpacker's dormitory experience than a stay at an Accor hotel. The building is basically a unit block with a reception desk and a towel cupboard on the ground floor. No housekeeping (if you wanted a fresh towel, or more toilet paper, or more washing powder, you had to ask at reception). An almost undecorated suite (including, randomly, a room entirely empty apart from a a desk and a chair). A poor layout for a hotel suite, including a big empty wall that felt institutional. A couch covered in who-knows-what stains. An air conditioning panel with all the numbers and text scratched off, and a laminated sign on the wall warning that the air con will conk out if set below 20 (and this is in Brisbane!). A cockroach in the lobby, and aother in my room.

I booked seven rooms at Mantra on Mary and unfortunately, the standard across all seven was disappointing. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable and the location is reasonably convenient. However, beyond that, there wasn't much to recommend. Every room had a tired, drab appearance and felt badly in need of a refresh. The overall presentation was quite depressing and certainly not what I would expect from a hotel of this standard. The bathrooms were another concern. The showers are located within a bath and the height of the step in and particularly the step out makes getting out quite awkward and potentially dangerous. I would be particularly concerned about this for anyone who is shorter or has any mobility issues. It certainly isn't a bathroom setup I would consider suitable for everyone. If you're simply looking for somewhere clean to put your head down for the night, then it may do the job. However, if you expect a room that feels fresh, comfortable and pleasant when you walk through the door, I would recommend looking elsewhere. Unfortunately, the rooms and bathroom facilities really let the hotel down.

Not good I stayed for one night and the heater wasn’t working. The tv also didn’t have internet connection which these days I would have thought was a given. Good to have space with kitchen and laundry. Oven was dirty though.
