This property was probably once impressive, but it now feels like a tired relic trading on a brand it no longer lives up to. Check-in We received multiple emails encouraging pre check-in, only to arrive and be told the system was down. Follow-up emails to confirm arrangements went unanswered. Check-in queues resembled a Las Vegas mega-hotel — long, slow and chaotic. There was no recognition of loyalty status whatsoever. A 15-minute wait to check in is embarrassing for a Sofitel. Room The room was clean and reasonably well maintained, but extremely dated. It felt like stepping back in time. After an hour — and two phone calls — our luggage finally arrived, delaying plans to use the pool. Omg - there is a 1980’s shower bath. Pool The pool was a major drawcard for choosing this hotel and the promotional photos set expectations that simply aren’t met. In reality, the pool area is undersized, overcrowded and poorly managed. At peak times there are more people than water, making it uncomfortable rather than relaxing. The spa is little more than a backyard plunge pool, there are no attendants, no visible service, and no attempt at crowd management. For a hotel marketing itself as luxury, the pool offering is frankly unacceptable and well below brand expectations. We spent 4 hours by the pool - it was a magnificent day. But we never saw a pool attendant. The wet towels and food plates of others just left there till sunset. Overall We were booked for multiple nights but cancelled and relocated after the first stay. I was close to achieving a higher Accor loyalty status but chose to forgo it in favour of staying somewhere genuinely decent. I was so looking forward to this stay. While the staff we encountered were friendly and doing their best, the hotel is clearly understaffed and stretched beyond its capacity. This property should not carry the Sofitel name. It does not meet Grand Mercure standards and would struggle to justify Mercure branding. If you’re an Accor member looking for a true five-star experience in Brisbane, leave your membership card in your wallet for once and book the W instead. Omg. I forgot the wifi. The normally bulletproof proof “Accor” wifi was missing in action. It gave everyone by the pool something to talk about.

Very disappointed to find no water bottles in room.water machine hopeless for short people can’t read instructions. No available water not a good look for hotel of your rating

The room was great however we found the breakfast buffet and dinner service was not up to the standard of previous stays. Dinner food was lovely however the service was lacking. A drink I ordered never arrived even though other diners received theirs.
