Thanks so much to Adrian and the mantra south bank team for looking after me. Had a great time at Mantra South Bank. I was going to see Carl Barron at QPAC up the road and thought I would have a mini weekend away at mantra South bank. Great service as usual and any shows I’m seeing at QPAC I’ll always try and book Mantra South Bank due to close proximity to QPAC and other places in South Bank.

Overall the experience was good. We ate breakfast and dinner there and found the staff to be extremely helpful expect the evenings, they appeared under staffed. Even though the person taking our order had been shown my membership card and gave us our welcome drinks - upon check out it was found that the meal discount hadn’t been applied. I don’t blame the person doin this, as there were only 2 staff and they were trying their hardest to get everyone served in a timely manner. On check in, I had asked about having the room ready early both in the phone call I had received the day earlier and at check in - we arrived around 11:15 and I knew it wouldn’t be ready then but just wanted an approx time so I knew how far to explore - the young girl behind the counter was a little abrupt in telling me repeatedly that an early check in isn’t guaranteed. Even the lady standing beside me waiting to be served commented on how abrupt she was, when all I wanted was an approx time. I had my elderly parents with me and didn’t want to get dad to walk to far to only get a phone call to say it was ready. I did deal with her later in my stay and on that occasion she was lovely, perhaps she was flustered from the morning check out process on our check in but it’s not a great first impression of the hotel.

For the cost I expected better. 1) The floor we were on clearly needs to be updated. As soon as we stepped out of the lift, it smelled musty & the hallway carpet was worn through in spots. 2) The room smelled musty & there were further worn patches of carpet. 3) The room was booked for 2 people but there was only 1 bath towel in the room. Positive - The room was very large when compared to other hotels I've stayed at.
