Our favorite hotel in Berlin, and room 304

We came for a Pet Shop Boys concert and this was about our 15th visit. The EM was also in full swing so the rooms were way expensive, which was also irritating, but we accepted it. We got our favorite room, 304, spent some time in the bar watching the EM. Service, food etc was all impeccable.

Air conditioning was not effective enough, the room never cooled down below 24°C. I let reception know during my stay, nothing changed.

Cool design, great location but terrible service

This is a wonderfully designed building, very stylish and good atmosphere. Location could not be better next to Tiergarten park. However, there is a major problem with service. This starts with the rooms. Room service was under par (rooms were not impeccably clean and could benefit from a painting job), one room was not cleaned at all (misunderstanding?). Then and most importantly, the service at dinner, breakfast and during early afternoon coffee/cake was very bad. There are MANY young and unexperienced staff members running around but there is no order in service and no allocation of tables to severs. This results in delays, not being recognized when waiting for orders, or being ignored at all. At breakfast, waiting for coffee took 15 minutes (until someone spotted me and felt responsible). Also, it sound obscene that an extra person for breakfast is charged 57 Euros!!!! The breakfast is good as has many fresh options but 57???? At coffee time (~3 PM) I sat at the bar and asked for coffee and cake and the first response of one of the MANY people at the bar was that it would take at least 15 min. (while there was only one table with other people). The staff members did not know what cake was available..., and one asked the other to prepare the coffee.... This is all very poorly managed and definitely not worth the price asked. Sorry, never again and cannot recommend despite the great optics!
