As our flight was cancelled and rebooked for early morning we found your excellent rating and decided to stay at your hotel. Though we only spent about 7 hours at your hotel the staff were so friendly and efficient. Room Service was fast and the food was good. The night staff at reception, which was near 3am for our check-out, were lovely. Would highly recommend staying at this beautiful hotel.

Saved Goals 92 Overall score We have stayed here many times over the years, but not recently, as we moved to the South Island and only come to Auckland infrequently now. Whilst the hotel is still as lovely as ever and the location is hard to beat, I got the distinct feeling that some minor things are starting to show their age or lack of care this time around. For a start, when I arrived, the forecourt was all parked up - to the point out front were two taxis, so in theory there was nowhere for me to stop my car and take my bags out and check in. No Concierge either, so I parked as close as I could to the Van at the exit (and a car would still have been abel to get past me). I checked in, which was very friendly as usual. Still, the former absent concierge came looking for me and asked why I stopped there and if I could urgently move the car, as another car wanted to get through/leave. They would have had plenty of space to do so - or even reverse out if needed without the fuss. I was literally only inside for less than 5 minutes. I had dinner plans, so I did not use the lounge this time. Still, I was told it would be open for breakfast. However, the sheet of paper I got listed two different times, which was very confusing. I made sure I used the pool in the morning and noticed that both the steam room and sauna were out of order - and the steam room seemingly for a long time, as it was used for towel storage. Also, the stones in the shower floor in the Female showers in the Gym/Pool area are loose or fallen out, not a good look. The Room itself was spacious as ever, and I had been upgraded to a Marina View, which was nice, and I really appreciated it as I love the night view towards the Sky Tower. However, the air conditioning was set to very cold and no matter what I tried, I could not increase the temperature. So I turned it off and opened the outside door instead as the night air was warmer than the Room inside... I did not ring reception as I felt they could do nothing in the middle of the night anyway. That also meant the bathroom was very cold. I did love the lovely touch of a nightcap of chamomile tea and chocolate (as a turn-down service) and the welcome gift of a bath bomb. The bed was very comfortable as always, and despite the noise from outside through the open door, I did get a nice sleep. In the morning, I had a look at the "breakfast" in the lounge and found it underwhelming. We have used it in the past - before, during and shortly after the pandemic and found it lovely and quite different, but now it's very basic. So I headed over to Lava instead, and it was wonderful, with the staff being very attentive as well. Overall, I enjoyed my short stay, but there is room for improvement—nothing major, but it's not as good as it used to be. It may be due to personnel shortages; the concierge, in particular, had to handle a lot on their own. When I came back from breakfast, I asked for my car to be brought up from half an hour away, but I still had to wait, as it seemed only that person could do it. So perhaps, saving at the wrong place here could have made a lot of difference.

Upgraded room. Really small but nice view. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Got up early for a shower and barely had warm water. Water hot later when my husband showered. Have free refills of coffee for breakfast. Two cups?? Then a charge. For what we paid for our room we expected more.
