It was good but didn’t like on the Monday we had arranged late check out of 1pm due to us not flying out until one and were very grateful for that! But we had house keeping knocking on our door ??? And a phone call to ask when we were checking out????

You need to turn to Balinese & Thai hotels & join the anti plastic movement. Not washing a few towels is an insufficient environmental act. In your rooms you need to get rid of: Plastic alcohol bottles Plastic shampoo etc bottles Plastic water bottles Milk in carton (tacky & cheap for a 5 star hotel) & use local milk providers in small, reusable glass bottles (many locals are working hard, try Bella Vacca (bellavacca.co.nz) or Lewis Road Creamery (lewisroadcreamery.co.nz) Plastic yoghurt pottles (again, very tacky for an expensive hotel All other single use plastic that has a non-plastic alternative You need to enforce mask wearing of your guests & provide all staff with N95 masks. I felt unsafe. If I have caught covid in your hotel, you will hear about it. It would also be great to have someone welcome you & point you in the direction of reception. All I got was suspicious questions about whether I was, in fact, a guest there. Wandering around not knowing where to go is uncomfortable & embarrassing.

We had nearly two days of great accommodation and meals at the Sofitel in Auckland. They provided us with an accessibility room. The shower stool was a bit too low and I should have adjusted it! Water temp was probably set too high, so higher energy bill! Excellent food for dinners and breakfast, well prepared, tasty and great advice from chef in relation to allergies. We will be back.

In my view, not a 5 star hotel and not worth anywhere $330 per night for the following reasons: - no staff present at or near entrance to hotel, maybe 80% of the time over my 3 days. No one was there to help with luggage when I arrived; - calls to reception/concierge went unanswered on 5 out of 6 calls - wifi does not work properly and appears to be insecure. All casting devices throughout hotel could be accessed from my device - Accor Plus benefits were not honoured - rooms are extremely close (approx 12 metres) from other residential apartments so had to keep curtains closed the entire stay due to very low privacy Accompanying restaurant was very good though. Room was clean and well appointed This is really a 4 star hotel and it should be priced at $250 per night. I wish I had know about the lack of privacy before

We stay weekly. The Park Hyatt offered us the same rate however over the years the staff at Sofitel have made it impossible to stay anywhere else. They are so warm & approachable. They make it feel like a home away from home. This is what makes Sofitel the best in Auckland.

The hotel is well located, right on the harbour and just minutes from the city.

Generally good and yes, we would return. The hotel, like many others suffers from staff shortages due to government isolation requirements. Staff were friendly and helpful, particularly Karim and Supatra - those on the reception desk were also, but unfortunately too many to remember all their names. We had a couple of minor issues with the room, toilet and internet, but these were sorted. Upon arrival I was informed we’d been upgraded. Unfortunately, I fail to see how we could be ‘upgraded’ to the smallest room on the floor. When I mentioned this I was told we’d actually been upgraded three times - something to do with the views, apparently. Now, if there are no upgrades available we can accept that, no problem - being mildly deceived is a little harder to take. Platinum Accor Plus.

Lovely stay at the Sofitel. The staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them to make our stay just right for us. Our room was just perfect. The sauna/pool area was wonderful. We ate in the Hotel and the food was delicious.

Sofitel stay review There were some issues with Accor plus booking website and things got all mixed and messy to book a 3-night stay at the hotel. We ended up ringing directly the hotel for the booking and we meet Angle the assistant Assistant Front Office Manager who sorted it out all perfectly without any trouble and arranged a perfect welcome for us, with a Petit Fours on arrival, a room that had a great view facing the city and the viaduct basin, we were absolutely delighted and happy what she had arranged for us. Not to mention the lovely present she handed over personally for our two grandsons which are living in Perth which we have not seen for over two years due to covid. We had triple A service from all the staff and all with a friendly welcoming smile. Food was excellent, you could not fault we had four dinners and breakfast, the duck was one of my favourite dish but all dishes were delicious and nicely presented by very friendly staff. Rooms are spacious and nice and clean beds very comfortable we will be back for another long weekend and more of relaxing Sofitel time…. A big thank you to all staff for looking after us and making our short stay a very memorable occasion. Peter & Edwina
