Overall, not the luxury hotel experience I was expecting. I received better service at the Holiday Inn Express in Queenstown compared to Sofitel Auckland. Pros: 1. Beautiful, large rooms. 2. Soft, comfortable bed. 3. Central location within downtown Auckland. Cons: 1. Due to my non-Western name, the staff assumed I am a man. The welcome screen on the TV in the room and the welcome card all stated "Welcome Mr. _____." When making the hotel reservation, there was not a space to fill out gender of the guest, not that a guest's gender matters. The hotel shouldn't assume the gender based on someone's name. 2. Front desk staff not familiar with American Express Fine Hotels and Resorts program and benefits. The program comes with guaranteed 4PM checkout. When I inquired about a late checkout and asked for a 2PM checkout, the front desk staff said she has to ask her manager and get back to me. 3. There were blood stains on the comforter. 4. La Maree dinner service and quality were poor. My husband and I both ordered medium rare steak. The steaks we received had hardly any red in the center and was more medium or medium-well. We were also seated by a wall with no view, when there were better tables available around us throughout the time we were there.

Rooms where nice, breakfast could be improved, bacon I would have to say was the worst I have ever eaten at any hotels I have stay at as was the , staff where nice and helpful

Nice hotel, Service was very average

The room was nice, modern and clean, however the staff were a bit too relaxed and probably more attention on customer service is needed. They did not offer to help with bags at any point, even when I was loaded up and struggling to give them the car key for valet. They did not organise breakfast per the door form. They answered the room service call on day one (when door form breakfast was missed), but no answer when calling them on day two when trying to order a breakfast. Lastly, the reception area is odd and not near the front entrance which makes it difficult to find and also not obvious.

You don't have dors on bedrooms???????? One (1) roll of toielt paper????? No additional bag for trash. Good location, good connection with public transportation
