Good hotel but lacked the basic detailing

Our experience at Raffles Udaipur was extremely disappointing and, unfortunately, one of the worst luxury hotel stays we have ever experienced despite having travelled extensively around the world. To begin with the positives, the pre-arrival experience was excellent. The team recognised my ALL Accor Platinum membership, and the room upgrade was appreciated. We also loved the room decoration, and Milan did a great job in the areas where he assisted us. Unfortunately, the positive experience ended there, and the actual stay was nowhere near the standard we expected from a property like Raffles. **1. Room maintenance issues and inconvenience** Despite being upgraded, our room had a leaking washbasin. During our one-day stay, staff had to visit the room three separate times to address the issue, consuming approximately two hours of our valuable time. What was particularly disappointing was the complete lack of a proper apology or meaningful acknowledgement of the inconvenience caused. An upgraded room should be thoroughly checked before a guest arrives, especially at a luxury property. Furthermore, the other room booked under my wife's name also had bathroom issues, with water overflowing. Having maintenance problems in both rooms made the experience even more frustrating. **2. Poor communication regarding welcome drink vouchers** At arrival, I contacted the team multiple times by phone and also emailed the staff members who had reached out to me before the stay to understand how to redeem the welcome drink vouchers. Unfortunately, I never received a clear or satisfactory response. Eventually, I had to visit the Writers Club myself to obtain the information. Only then was I informed that two vouchers could be redeemed per room. We were travelling as two adults and one child, and the policy and its implications for our family were not clearly explained beforehand. This was a frustrating example of poor communication and a lack of proactive guest assistance. **3. Extremely disappointing breakfast service** Breakfast was one of the worst aspects of our stay. The restaurant was not busy, yet the staff did not even make an effort to approach our table to ask whether we needed anything. At a luxury hotel, guests should not have to repeatedly seek attention for basic service. Having travelled extensively and stayed at hotels across different countries, I have rarely encountered such inattentive service. The issue was not the absence of a crowded restaurant or a demanding service environment; it was the apparent lack of initiative and attention to guests. **4. Unacceptable checkout and luggage experience** The checkout experience was even worse. We had to wait approximately 45 minutes for our luggage at the lakeshore area. During this time, we approached at least five staff members and even called Milan for assistance. Having to chase multiple employees and make repeated requests just to retrieve our luggage was unacceptable. A smooth, timely departure is a basic expectation at a luxury hotel. Instead, the experience left us frustrated and exhausted at the end of our stay. **Overall experience** What makes this experience particularly disappointing is the contrast between the excellent pre-arrival communication and membership recognition and the poor execution once we arrived. The room upgrade and attractive room decoration initially created high expectations, but maintenance problems, ineffective communication, inattentive breakfast service, and a severely delayed luggage delivery overshadowed everything positive. The most disappointing aspect was not simply that problems occurred, but that the service recovery, communication, and ownership of these issues were inadequate. Mistakes can happen at any hotel, but the way a luxury property responds to them is what distinguishes an exceptional experience from a poor one. Unfortunately, Raffles Udaipur failed to deliver the level of service, attention to detail, and hospitality we associate with a luxury brand. I would not choose to stay here again, nor would I recommend it based on this experience. I sincerely hope management reviews these issues and takes meaningful steps to improve service standards, staff responsiveness, room readiness, and guest experience management.

We had an overall wonderful stay at this beautifully decorated and very well-maintained property. Accommodation & Rooms We stayed in the Lakeshore building, where the rooms were exceptionally comfortable. The only drawback was a bathroom design flaw: water tended to pool while taking a shower. It wasn't a drainage blockade, but rather an issue with the shower enclosure/slope design, which didn't feel very hygienic. Dining Experiences The culinary service was outstanding overall, with accommodating staff across all outlets: Sawai Restaurant: A absolute must-try! Lakeshore Restaurant Breakfast: A fantastic experience with attentive service. Chef went above and beyond to make us dal kachori upon request! Suggestions for Improvement: The breakfast at the Island property felt quite crowded. Incorporating more local Rajasthani dishes and traditional sweets into the breakfast buffet would be a great addition. Spa & Wellness My massage was deeply relaxing and the spa team provided great service. However, the facility would benefit from a dedicated post-treatment relaxation area so that shower facilities can be used later on. Having to rush back to the Lakeshore side via boat in the heat right after a session detracted from the spa experience. Butler Service & Preferences This was the primary area needing improvement. The butler service lacked coordination and felt impersonal. Having a dedicated, assigned butler who retains preferences would make a huge difference. Furthermore, despite filling out a pre-arrival preference sheet (covering favorite foods, cocktails, room cleaning schedules, etc.), these details were not implemented. For instance, our room was unserviced when we returned for a afternoon nap, forcing us to wait while it was cleaned. Final Verdict Despite these small operational and design missteps, it was a memorable stay with truly amazing hospitality for the most part. We would happily return!

Great stay . Everything amazing. Amazing property everything top notch. However no specific butler assigned, no welcome letter , no raffles branded goodies provided even after asking.

We did Fairmont and Raffles in Udaipur a day apart. Fairmont was way better than Raffles. Staff at Raffles was poorly trained. I don't blame the staff however the lack of training was clearly visible. Right from the parking (drove down from Chandigarh), the staff was lost. They made us wait in the shoreside part of hotel which actually was not operational at the time. Then the usual petal shower was forgotten and we were brought out again for it. Later even the check out time billing and procedures were not smooth and not expected from Raffles. The Chinese restaurant was great though. Overall disappointed 😞

We spent three nights at Raffles Udaipur in a Manor Suite as a family of three and had a memorable stay. The resort is beautiful, and the restaurant staff stood out for their warmth, attentiveness and hospitality. A special mention to Dinky at La Patisserie, who made us feel particularly welcome. The food was very good, although breakfast spread could have been better. Our experience with the front desk and room service was more mixed. An ironing board took four calls and 40 minutes to arrive, while milk took around 20 minutes. The bottle of wine included in our package was also missed totally and never showed up. These may seem like small details, but at a hotel of this calibre, they matter. The initial pre-arrival email also felt focused on payment rather than the warm welcome one would expect from Raffles. A more welcoming tone would have set a better first impression. Overall, great hard product: wonderful resort where we made lovely family memories. More consistent service from the front desk and room service would have made an already enjoyable stay exceptional.

It was my husband’s birthday and it was very well celebrated with the help of Raffles family. Roshni, Mahima and Anoop ji in particular were very helpful and sweet.

Excellent in all fields. No complaints

We had an absolutely wonderful 3-day stay at Raffles Hotel. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was exceptional. The staff were incredibly warm and genuinely went above and beyond to make our stay special. (Upgrading both our rooms) The level of service throughout the property was outstanding. The activities for the kids were also fantastic and very thoughtfully organised, which made the experience especially enjoyable for our little one. The property itself is beautiful, with stunning grounds and an incredible atmosphere that makes it very easy to relax and switch off. Overall, we had a fantastic three days and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay. A huge thank you to the entire Raffles team for making it such a memorable experience. We look forward to returning.

Very happy with staff and services

The experience was overall good except faced glitches with housekeeping

We had come off of staying at other 5 star properties so the miss was very clear (Taj Lake Palace, Oberon Udaivilas, Shangri La Delhi). The hotel made the mistake of booking two full buy outs back to back…so they were operating on their back foot from the beginning. Rooms didn’t feel really clean the staff seemed confused and frazzled at every stage from room assignment to baggage being lost, to clothes being steamed and cleaned. The events were all beautiful but nearly half the guests I know had some sort of GI issue which begs the question if short cuts were taken on cleanliness in food preparation. No turn down service, robes or slippers in the rooms. Coming off these other properties just was clear that while it’s a beautiful space somewhere in leadership or the chain service is not up to the standard.

Keep up what the way you are serving, wonderful place, wonderful hospitality, will definitely return back when ever possible.
