Had a nice time and I would return. There is not a survey section on banquets, however, I was not pleased when banquet servers were pulling napkins and water glasses when we were still eating. It made us feel rushed. They were clearly trying to get ahead of clean up so they could leave instead of taking care of the guests. I was still eating dessert when servers were pulling napkins and water glasses.

We were not notified ahead of time that the resort was completely booked by an exclusive group, which required that the amenities were restricted for all other guests; we lacked the option of ordering room service or even get food service at the family pool. Besides these problems, we also discovered bugs (both living and dead in our bathroom and bar area).

Overall great. Friendly staff, great welcome in room and nice touch for my birthday. Had a connected room so some noise from kids, and on 3/30 on room dining was suspended without notice so that was a bummer

We recently stayed here while visiting our son at UCSD. The property has a wonderful old-world charm, and for the most part, the service was very good. Unfortunately, a number of issues—some small on their own—added up and detracted from the overall experience. Dinner at the restaurant was particularly disappointing. Despite it not being busy, our food took nearly an hour to arrive, and not everything we ordered was brought out. The staff was apologetic and did adjust the bill, which we appreciated, but the experience itself was already diminished. There were also several inconveniences in the room. There was no refrigerator or ice machine available, making it difficult to keep drinks cold. The phone in the bedroom didn’t work, so we had to use the base on speakerphone to reach room service and the front desk. We requested an extra comforter at check-in—something my wife prefers—but housekeeping removed it each day. Additionally, the thermostat was reset daily to 64 degrees, so the room felt like a meat locker when we returned in the evening. Individually, these may seem like minor issues, but together they created a noticeably inconsistent stay. We typically stay at properties like the Ritz-Carlton or Four Seasons, where while not perfect, the experience is far more consistent. For comparison, we’ve also stayed at the Fairmont in Berkeley and found it to be excellent. There’s a lot to like here, but attention to these details would make a meaningful difference.
