We look forward to returning! Nearly everything about the stay was wonderful and perhaps we lucked out, but a pleasant surprise was how many other interesting families there were who had children near our daughter's age (23 months). She had a blast running around with others kiddos while we ate dinner at Amaya. Speaking of Amaya, we ate dinner there twice and specifically returned a 2nd time as long as we could have Robert as our waiter. His recommendations were spot on and his demeanor is warm and calming (when having a toddler isn't always peaceful!). His best recommendation was the trout and I hope the have it on the menu. Robert also recommended we check out Balboa Park for the next time we visit SD. One minor aspect that could use a little attention was the room carpet. It could have used a professional cleaning for the stains or perhaps they were waiting a little longer to replace it but for a luxury hotel, it should receive prompter care. Overall, the grounds are beautiful and the location is quite peaceful; close enough to much of the SD area but far enough away from the hustle and bustle. When we stay again, I think we'll stay one more night as we were quite ready to leave!

Stayed for a wee at spring break, consistent issues with service - concierges who didn’t do what they said they would, not enough staff to clean up the pool - one day there were empty cups everywhere next to the pool, waiter who attempted to double charge us for gatsby tea.

Set within a serene canyon landscape, the resort blends Mediterranean-inspired architecture with beautifully maintained grounds. The atmosphere is both elegant and relaxed, making it perfect for special occasions or anyone seeking a peaceful retreat. The rooms are spacious and richly designed, featuring marble bathrooms, plush bedding, and private terraces that deliver a true five-star experience. What truly sets this property apart is its exceptional level of service. From arrival to departure, everything feels seamless and elevated. Even though we arrived around midnight, the check-in process was quick and efficient, and we were escorted to our room right away. The staff remained consistently warm, attentive, and welcoming, making us feel incredibly well cared for throughout our stay. The room itself was a highlight, especially the breathtaking view from our balcony. Starting each day with breakfast outside quickly became a favorite ritual. Surrounded by lush scenery and peaceful surroundings, the atmosphere felt calm and rejuvenating—perfect for relaxing and disconnecting. We also enjoyed the resort’s amenities, including the pickleball courts and one of the three swimming pools. There is so much to do on the property that you could easily spend several days there without leaving. While the resort offers a sense of privacy and tranquility, it is still conveniently located within about 30 minutes of San Diego’s beaches and popular attractions like Legoland, SeaWorld, and the San Diego Zoo. Overall, the Fairmont Grand Del Mar delivers a classic, luxurious resort experience with outstanding service, beautiful surroundings, and thoughtful details throughout.
