Walkable distance to the mall and many other shopping and restaurants. My husband was allergic to something in the room however. He would feel better being outside of the room, then be itchy with hives when he lays down.

Overall this was an excellent experience. My only reason for not giving a 10 was that we were charged for 6 people staying when we only had 5 there. Typically a hotel charges by the room, rather than per person, so I must admit, I do not understand the logic of charging per person. When I questioned the person at the desk, I was told that we would still be charged for 6 because we had booked our reservation online. I don't see what difference that would make and would still like to have that amount refunded to us.

Free and easy parking (Shopping Mall parking, exchange of the ticket at the hotel reception). Modern, nice and spacious Room. On top floor, restaurant and terrasse. No welcome, no hello. Smokers everywhere. One part of the terrasse was empty, I went there to avoid smokers (the waiters told me.a can choice any seat). After 6 or 7 minutes, the waiter come and tell that this part was "closes" and suggest me to take a table next other smokers table. After that, I left the restaurant without drinking anything. Breakfast : Not at all the level for a 4 stars hotel (and Accor Mercure Hotel). No welcome, No hello. Buffet not very nice. Bread without anything to put on it (no marmelade, honey or other). Cereal : just "poor" Frosties and chocolate cereals. Fruit : only watermelon. 3 hot plates not fantastic (eggs overcooked, pasta with a white sauce, and another plate). Cold cuts and cheese ok. Near the coffee : some waste of cream packaging. Dessert : things like chocolate cake with hudge chocolate sauce. Not nice and not adapted for breakfast. In a few words : Hotel Room a good place. Restaurant and Breakfast : to forget. (In Neighbour streets, some restaurants easy to find)

Reception: Kind, competent and friendly staff. If you have any questions, they give you the answers and are motivated to find solutions. Restaurant malabana: - Tables are not clean - there are only plastic spoons - coffee is served in paper cups and not in mugs - some of the cutlery is not clean either This is not the level for a restaurant of a five star hotel unfortunately.

I asked for slippers and the lady said she will send the camerier girls to bring slippers. But they did not come. I think I must get more experience in Mercure hotels to unlocks the slippers. I really want to stay again, especially to obtain the slippers.

Poor Accor Experience

We came from Skopje by bus. The first stop the bus make is about 100 meters from the hotel then continues to the terminal which is a 10 min flat walk away. We had stayed at the Ibis in Skopje probably the best Ibis have stayed on in terms of hard and soft product so was looking forward to our stay at the Mercure Tetovo. Check in was good and due to my Platinum Level upgraded, given drink vouchers. The room we had was great. In the evening we decided to go to the rooftop bar/restaurant to have dinner and redeem our vouchers. When we tried to redeem our vouchers we were told the restaurant was not part of the hotel. Think this is rubbish as the in room is the same as the rooftop one. We're told to go down to 2nd floor restaurant which was on darkness, there was a staff member there but didn't know about the vouchers. Next went down to reception, lots of blank looks, eventually one of them rang a manager who apparently said we could have a soft drink. I then pointed out the conditions on the vouchers, "The invitation is only valid during your stay in the hotel above. All drinks except millesimes, (means vintage wines) champagne & spirits", which by their own conditions should include a beer or wine. So with that in mind asked for wine, the manager was again rung and after muck discussion apparently said could have a Heineken which was just petty as the cost of a glass of wine or beer is about the same. Gave up at this point, left a found a nice meal around the corner so the hotel missed out 2 dinners. The next morning went to breakfast, there was only one staff member on, a large tour group in so the poor girl was just overwhelmed as a consequence the food was not replenished and what was left was cold. The Mercure Tetovo could and should be a brilliant place to stay but seems to suffer from apathetic, disinterested management which means Frontline staff are undertrained, under valued thus "The Accor Experience" is very substandard. By contrast a short distance away the Ibis Skopje delivers a great experience, with real Macedonia pride evident such as when we redeemed our vouchers we were told just how good the local wine was with obvious pride, so would recommend staying there and do a day trip to Tetovo by by bus. Overall of the many 100s of Accor Hotels that we have stayed in around the World the Mercure Tetovo would rate the lowest. Again by contrast have been staying at The Mercure Tirana, the real Accor experience with outstanding customer service, something that the Mercure Tetovo needs to aspire to.
